A sponge named Bob who happens to wear square pants

Collected by: Mount Dora High School

Archived since: Feb, 2017

Description:

Spongebob Squarepants is an animated television show that aired on July 17, 1999 and is still running to this day. The series chronicles the adventures and endeavors of the title character and his various friends in the fictional underwater city of Bikini Bottom. The show is in its tenth season, being produced by Pall Tibbitt, who took over after Stephen Hillenburg in 2004 to continue the show after the first movie. Spongebob Squarepants has remained a popular cartoon since, due to its colorful characters and family oriented humor, and has made millions in merchandise and watch time. The show is also known for its many references to pop culture and subtle humor littered throughout episodes, taking advantage of references to familiar ideas such as Star Wars and David Hasselhoff. The show even has hidden educational messages, such as references to the Wright Brothers (who built the first flying plane) in The Sponge Who Could Fly. Few other shows of its time were able to capture so many messages as well as provide a diverse storyline in the same way that Spongebob Squarepants did. The show is a great example of what popular television and humor for kids was like during the 2000s. Spongebob Squarepants is a dynamic show that appeals to multiple audiences and will probably continue to do so for many years.

Alice Eastwood

Collected by: Rooftop Alternative PreK-8 School

Archived since: Apr, 2017

Description:

Many of the world’s greatest scientists and engineers, including Alice Eastwood, have been greatly ignored over the years. Although most people have never heard her name, they should take some time to learn more. Many of the plants that you see in the California Academy of Sciences (nearly 1500 specimens), were saved by her on the day of the 1906 earthquake. She helped document several of the species that we live around today. Though seldom thanked and rarely thought of, It is very important to remember her act of bravery in times of disaster. This archive is created to document her life and her accomplishments as a female scientist in the early 1900s, and note her importance to our time.

Are trains still important?

Collected by: Whitefish Middle School

Archived since: Mar, 2011

Description:

With the Burlington Northern Railroad employing many people in our community, we wonder how important trains are based on the history of all of montana. The main reason we have trains is to support our state. We send a lot of supplies to get most of our money so we can stay mostly out of dept. We have stayed mostly out of dept for a long time and if we didn't have the railway we would be in dept more and more every day. And that is why the railway is important.
