Title:An explanation for Y(4140) and X(3915)
View PDFAbstract:The Y(4140) observed by CDF may have a novel explanation. Its mass coincides within experimental error with a two-step process. In the first step, Y(4140) -> bar(D_s) + Dstar_s. In the second step, the decay of the Dstar_s produces a backward virtual pion which scatters off the bar(D_s) from the first step. This generates a singularity in pi-D_s P-wave elastic scattering. Via this singularity, bar(D_s) + Dstar_s can de-excite to S-wave J/psi + phi. The predicted spin-parity of Y(4140) is J^PC = 1^++. The same mechanism for bar(D)-Dstar configurations predicts a singularity at 3918.5 MeV, consistent with the peak at 3915 \pm 3 MeV observed in omega J/psi by Babar and Belle.
