Title:The role of covering matroid in covering-based rough set and matroid
View PDFAbstract:In order to broaden the theoretical and application areas of rough sets and matroids, some researchers have combined them from two aspects, one is investigating rough sets through matroids, the other is studying matroids through rough sets. In this paper, we propose a new type of matroids, namely covering matroids, to investigate the second type of covering-based rough sets, and study the role of the new matroids in existing matroids. Firstly, through the form of partition matroids and extending partitions to coverings, we propose a reasonable form of covering matroids. Secondly, we use covering matroids to investigate some basic concepts of covering-based rough sets, such as covering blocks, neighborhood, the second type of covering lower and upper approximations. Thirdly, we study the role of covering matroids in some existing matroids.
