Title:Dualities for Ising networks
View PDFAbstract:In this note, we study the equivalence between planar Ising networks and cells in the positive orthogonal Grassmannian. We present a microscopic construction which establishes the correspondence for any Ising network. Since the number of cells of a positive orthogonal Grassmannian is finite, this implies that Ising networks belonging to the same cell are dual. We establish local duality transformations that relate these Ising networks. Sequential applications of these duality transformations allow us to convert non-reduced Ising networks to reduced ones with calculable effective couplings. When applied to self-repeating lattices dual to the same cell, the transformation rules become the exact Renormalization group equations, and fixed points correspond to phase transitions. We use the Ising lattice on the Sierpinski triangle with general anisotropic couplings as an example, and show that for this case there are no phase transitions at finite temperatures.
