Title:Activating quantum steering with nonlocal unsharp measurements
View PDFAbstract:Unsharp measurement is a key scientific development for breaking the monogamy limit of quantum steering and enabling quantum steering sharing across multiple observers. However, it is currently restricted to local measurements. In this paper, we propose a method for constructing nonlocal unsharp measurements that are optimal and produce the best violation of the linear steering inequality. We also introduce the first use of nonlocal unsharp measurements in quantum steering sharing. We demonstrate that, in contrast to the laborious activation strategy of allowing joint measurements on multiple copies of the same state, the global steering sharing for the three-qubit Werner state may be flexibly activated via nonlocal unsharp measurements. And the steering range that is activated can be wider if the measurement strength is altered to a different strength than when it is made with equal strength. In order to better understand this range-widening phenomenon, we also introduce the notion of steering an ellipsoid through dimension reduction. Additionally, we confirm that even when the states are mixed, similar activation events persist. The flexibility, resource conservation, and experiment friendliness of our activation scheme have potential applications in quantum information processing in the future.
