Plasmodium vivax is the most geographically widespread malaria parasite due to its ability to remain dormant (as a hypnozoite) in the human liver and subsequently reactivate. Given the majority of P. vivax infections are due to hypnozoite reactivation, targeting the hypnozoite reservoir with a radical cure is crucial for achieving P. vivax elimination. Stochastic effects can strongly influence dynamics when disease prevalence is low or when the population size is small. Hence, it is important to account for this when modelling malaria elimination.cWe use a stochastic multiscale model of P. vivax transmission to study the impacts of multiple rounds of mass drug administration (MDA) with a radical cure, accounting for superinfection and hypnozoite dynamics. Our results indicate multiple rounds of MDA with a high-efficacy drug are needed to achieve a substantial probability of elimination. This work has the potential to help guide P. vivax elimination strategies by quantifying elimination probabilities for an MDA approach.

Reconstructed-correlator methods have been used to investigate thermal effects in mesonic correlation functions in a fit-independent manner. This technique has recently been extended to the baryonic sector. In this work different ways of implementing this approach for baryon correlators are examined. Using both real and synthetic data it is found that for heavy baryons, such as the $Ξ_{cc}(ccu)$ baryon, different choices are equivalent and that for the lighter nucleon the effect of different implementations is minimal. Further comparison to the so-called "double ratio" using the FASTSUM Generation 2L thermal ensembles shows that reconstructed-correlator ratios and double ratios contain nearly identical quantitative information.

Motivated by recent experimental evidence for apparent $cc\bar c \bar c$ states at LHCb, CMS and ATLAS, we consider how the mass spectrum and decays of such states can be used to discriminate among their possible theoretical interpretations, with a particular focus on identifying whether quarks or diquarks are the most relevant degrees of freedom. Our preferred scenario is that $X(6600)$ and its apparent partner state $X(6400)$ are the tensor $(2^{++})$ and scalar $(0^{++})$ states of an S-wave multiplet of $cc\bar c \bar c$ states. Using tetraquark mass relations which are independent of (or only weakly dependent on) model parameters, we give predictions for the masses of additional partner states with axial and scalar quantum numbers. Additionally, we give predictions for relations among decay branching fractions to $J/ψJ/ψ$, $J/ψη_c$, $η_cη_c$ and $D^{(*)} \bar{D}^{(*)}$ channels. The scenario we consider is consistent with existing experimental data on $J/ψJ/ψ$, and our predictions for partner states and their decays can be confronted with future experimental data, to discriminate between quark and diquark models.

We present new linear relations among the masses of S-wave tetraquarks with either one flavour ($QQ \bar Q \bar Q$) or two ($QQ\bar q \bar q$). Because the relations are sensitive to the hidden-colour, spin, and spatial degrees of freedom, comparison to experimental data can help to reveal the internal structure of tetraquarks, and discriminate among different theoretical models. Depending on the model, the relations are either exact, or valid in perturbation theory, and a thorough comparison with existing literature confirms their validity at the MeV level. Additionally, we explore the connections among tetraquark models, and show how those with effective (quark or diquark) masses are related to dynamical potential models. We also show how the spectrum of diquark models is effectively a limiting case of (more general) quark models, and in particular, that the diquark concept is most relevant in the particular combination $QQ\bar q \bar q$, where $Q$ is much heavier than $\bar q$.

Plasmodium vivax is one of the most geographically widespread malaria parasites in the world due to its ability to remain dormant in the human liver as hypnozoites and subsequently reactivate after the initial infection (i.e. relapse infections). More than 80% of P. vivax infections are due to hypnozoite reactivation. Mathematical modelling approaches have been widely applied to understand P. vivax dynamics and predict the impact of intervention outcomes. In this article, we provide a scoping review of mathematical models that capture P. vivax transmission dynamics published between January 1988 and May 2023 to provide a comprehensive summary of the mathematical models and techniques used to model P. vivax dynamics. We aim to assist researchers working on P. vivax transmission and other aspects of P. vivax malaria by highlighting best practices in currently published models and highlighting where future model development is required. We provide an overview of the different strategies used to incorporate the parasite's biology, use of multiple scales (within-host and population-level), superinfection, immunity, and treatment interventions. In most of the published literature, the rationale for different modelling approaches was driven by the research question at hand. Some models focus on the parasites' complicated biology, while others incorporate simplified assumptions to avoid model complexity. Overall, the existing literature on mathematical models for P. vivax encompasses various aspects of the parasite's dynamics. We recommend that future research should focus on refining how key aspects of P. vivax dynamics are modelled, including spatial heterogeneity in exposure risk, the accumulation of hypnozoite variation, the interaction between P. falciparum and P. vivax, acquisition of immunity, and recovery under superinfection.

We study the behaviour of spin $1/2$ charmed baryons as the temperature increases. We make use of anisotropic lattice QCD simulations with $N_f = 2 + 1$ dynamical flavours. After determining the positive and negative parity ground state masses at the lowest temperature, we investigate the effect of rising temperature using ratios of thermal lattice correlators with both so-called reconstructed correlators and with simple model correlators. This avoids difficulties associated with non-zero temperature fitting or spectral reconstruction. We find that temperature effects are prominent throughout the hadronic phase for all negative parity channels considered and for some positive parity channels. Subsequently and where possible, we determine the masses of the ground states as a function of temperature. Finally we consider the effect of chiral symmetry restoration and extract an estimate of the pseudocritical temperature from singly charmed baryonic correlators.

\textit{Plasmodium vivax} is the most geographically widespread malaria-causing parasite resulting in significant associated global morbidity and mortality. One of the factors driving this widespread phenomenon is the ability of the parasites to remain dormant in the liver. Known as hypnozoites, they reside in the liver following an initial exposure, before activating later to cause further infections, referred to as relapses. As around 79-96$\%$ of infections are attributed to relapses, we expect it will be highly impactful to apply treatment to target the hypnozoite reservoir to eliminate \textit{P. vivax}. Treatment with a radical cure to target the hypnozoite reservoir is a potential tool to control or eliminate \textit{P. vivax}. We have developed a multiscale mathematical model as a system of integro-differential equations that captures the complex dynamics of \textit{P. vivax} hypnozoites and the effect of hypnozoite relapse on disease transmission. Here, we use our model to study the anticipated effect of radical cure treatment administered via a mass drug administration (MDA) program. We implement multiple rounds of MDA with a fixed interval between rounds, starting from different steady-state disease prevalences. We then construct an optimisation model to obtain the optimal MDA interval. We also incorporate mosquito seasonality in our model to study its effect on the optimal treatment regime. We find that the effect of MDA interventions is temporary and depends on the pre-intervention disease prevalence (and choice of model parameters) as well as the number of MDA rounds under consideration. We find radical cure alone may not be enough to lead to \textit{P. vivax} elimination under our mathematical model (and choice of model parameters) since the prevalence of infection eventually returns to pre-MDA levels.

We discuss the temperature dependence of these baryons' spectra in both parity channels with a focus on the confining phase. To further qualify the behaviour of these states around the pseudocritical temperature, we investigate the effect of chiral symmetry restoration for light quarks. The charmoniumlike state $Y(4260)$ is described as predominantly a $D_1 \bar{D}$ molecule in a coupled-channel quark model [Phys.\,Rev.\,D\,\textbf{96},\,114022\,(2017)]. The heavy quark spin symmetry (HQSS) thus implies the possible emergence of its heavy quark spin partners with molecular configuration as $D_1 \bar{D}^*$ and $D_2^* \bar{D}^*$ below these charmed mesons' thresholds. We analyze the probabilities of various intermediate charmed meson loops for $J^{PC}=1^{--}$ exotic state $Y(4360)$ and find that the channel $D_1 \bar{D}^*$ couples more strongly around its mass regime, and the coupling behavior remains the same even if the mass of $Y(4360)$ is pushed closer to $D_1 \bar{D}^*$ threshold. This enlightens that the most favorable molecular scenario for the $Y(4360)$ could be $D_1 \bar{D}^*$, and hence it can be interpreted as HQSS partner of the $Y(4260)$. We also find the strong coupling behavior of $D_2^* \bar{D}^*$ channel with the $ψ(4415)$, which makes it a good candidate for a dominant $D_2^* \bar{D}^*$ molecule. We discuss the important decay patterns of these resonances to disentangle their long- and short-distance structures.

According to our predictions, the $χ_{\rm c}(3P)$ states should be dominated by the charmonium core, but they may also show small meson-meson components. The $X(4274)$ is interpreted as a $c \bar c$ $χ_{\rm c1}(3P)$ state. In the baryo-quarkonium model, the five $qqq Q \bar Q$ quarks are arranged in terms of a heavy quarkonium core, $Q \bar Q$, embedded in light baryonic matter, $qqq$, with $q = u$ or $d$. The interaction between the $Q \bar Q$ core and the light baryon can be written in terms of the QCD multipole expansion. The spectrum of baryo-charmonium states is calculated and the results compared with the existing experimental data. In particular, we can interpret the recently discovered $P_{\rm c}(4380)$ and $P_{\rm c}(4450)$ pentaquarks as $ψ(2S)$-$N$ and $χ_{\rm c2}(1P)$-$N$ bound states, respectively. We observe that in the baryo-bottomonium sector the binding energies are, on average, slightly larger than those of baryo-charmonia. Because of this, the hidden-bottom pentaquarks are more likely to form than their hidden-charm counterparts. We thus suggest the experimentalists to look for five-quark states in the hidden-bottom sector in the $10.4-10.9$ GeV energy region.

The mass difference of $χ_{b2}$ and $χ_{b1}$ in $3P$ multiplet measured by CMS collaboration ($10.6 \pm 0.64 \pm 0.17$ MeV) is very close to our theoretical prediction ($12$ MeV). Our corresponding mass splitting of $χ_{b1}$ and $χ_{b0}$ enables us to predict more precisely the mass of $χ_{b0}(3P)$ to be ($10490\pm 3$) MeV. Moreover, we predict ratios of the radiative decays of $χ_{bJ}(nP)$ candidates, both in UQM and quark potential model. Our predicted relative branching fraction of $χ_{b0}(3P)\toΥ(3S)γ$ is one order of magnitude smaller than $χ_{b2}(3P)$, this naturally explains the non-observation of $χ_{b0}(3P)$ in recent CMS search. We hope these results might provide useful references for forthcoming experimental searches.

Moreover, in recent years, hadronic transitions revealed remarkable discoveries to identify the new conventional heavy quarkonia and extracting useful information about the so called "XYZ" exotic states. In this contribution, we present our predictions for heavy quark spin symmetry (HQSS) breaking hadronic transitions of higher $S$ and $D$ wave vector charmonia based on our recently proposed model (inspired by Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (NJL) model) to create light meson(s) in heavy quarkonium transitions. We calculate the probabilities of various charmed meson molecules for $X(4260)$ under the framework of ${}^3P_0$ model. The results indicate that even though heavy quark spin symmetry forbids $S$ wave coupling of $D_1\bar{D}$ to the ${}^3S_1$ charmonia ($ψ(nS)$), the $D$ wave coupling is allowed and not negligible. Under this symmetry, the $D_1\bar{D}$ can couple to ${}^3D_1$ charmonia ($ψ(nD)$) via both $S$ and $D$ wave, and the overall coupling is around three times larger than that of $ψ(nS)$. The $X(4260)$ cannot be a pure molecule but a mixture of a charmonium and various charmed meson components. Since the $D_1\bar{D}$ couples strongly to $ψ(nD)$, our results suggest that in the $D_1\bar{D}$ molecular picture, the charmonium core of $X(4260)$ is $ψ(nD)$ instead of $ψ(nS)$. As a result, the experimental fact that the $R$ ratio has a dip around 4.26 GeV can be understood in the $D_1\bar{D}$ molecular picture of the $X(4260)$.

Contrary to what has been widely accepted, the contributions of $P$ wave $B$ mesons are generally the largest and this result is independent of the potential parameters to some extent. We also push the calculation beyond $B(1P)$ and carefully analyze the contributions of $B(2S)$. A form factor is a key ingredient to suppress the contributions of $B(2S)$ for low lying bottomonia. However, this suppression mechanism is not efficient for highly excited bottomonia such as $Υ(5S)$ and $Υ(6S)$. We give explanations why this difficulty happens to ${}^3P_0$ model and suggest analyzing flux-tube breaking model for the full calculation of coupled-channel effects.

We propose a new model to create a light meson in the heavy quarkonium transition, which is inspired by the Nambu$-$Jona-Lasinio (NJL) model. Hadronic transitions of $J^{PC}=1^{--}$ higher charmonia with the emission of an $η$ meson are studied in the framework of the proposed model. The model shows its potential to reproduce the observed decay widths and make predictions for the unobserved channels. We present our predictions for the decay width of $Ψ\to J/ψη$ and $Ψ\to h_{c}(1P)η$, where $Ψ$ are higher $S$ and $D$ wave vector charmonia, which provide useful references to search for higher charmonia and determine their properties in forthcoming experiments. The predicted branching fraction $\mathcal B(ψ(4415)\to h_{c}(1P)η)=4.62\times 10^{-4}$ is one order of magnitude smaller than the $J/ψη$ channel. Estimates of partial decay width $Γ(Y \to J/ψη)$ are given for $Y(4360)$, $Y(4390)$ and $Y(4660)$ by assuming them as $c\bar{c}$ bound states with quantum numbers $3 ^3D_1$, $3 ^3D_1$ and $5 ^3S_1$, respectively. Our results are in favor of these assignments for $Y(4360)$ and $Y(4660)$. The corresponding experimental data for these $Y$ states has large statistical errors which do not provide any constraint on the mixing angle if we introduce $S-D$ mixing. To identify $Y(4390)$, precise measurements on its hadronic branching fraction are required which are eagerly awaited from BESIII.

Abstract:
With Gaussian expansion method (GEM), realistic wave functions are used to calculate coupled-channel effects for the bottomonium under the framework of ${}^3P_0$ model. With Gaussian expansion method (GEM), realistic wave functions are used to calculate coupled-channel effects for the bottomonium under the framework of ${}^3P_0$ model. The simplicity and accuracy of GEM are explained. We calculate the mass shifts, probabilities of the $B$ meson continuum, $S-D$ mixing angles, strong and dielectric decay widths. Our calculation shows that both $S-D$ mixing and the $B$ meson continuum can contribute to the suppression of the vector meson's dielectric decay width. We suggest more precise measurements on the radiative decays of $Υ(10580)$ and $Υ(11020)$ to distinguish these two effects. The above quantities are also calculated with simple harmonic oscillator (SHO) wave function approximation for comparison. The deviation between GEM and SHO indicates that it is essential to treat the wave functions accurately for near threshold states.
