Recently, circle representation has been introduced for medical imaging, designed specifically to enhance the detection of instance objects that are spherically shaped (e.g., cells, glomeruli, and nuclei). Given its outstanding effectiveness in instance detection, it is compelling to consider the application of circle representation for segmenting instance medical objects. In this study, we introduce CircleSnake, a simple end-to-end segmentation approach that utilizes circle contour deformation for segmenting ball-shaped medical objects at the instance level. The innovation of CircleSnake lies in these three areas: (1) It substitutes the complex bounding box-to-octagon contour transformation with a more consistent and rotation-invariant bounding circle-to-circle contour adaptation. This adaptation specifically targets ball-shaped medical objects. (2) The circle representation employed in CircleSnake significantly reduces the degrees of freedom to two, compared to eight in the octagon representation. This reduction enhances both the robustness of the segmentation performance and the rotational consistency of the method. (3) CircleSnake is the first end-to-end deep instance segmentation pipeline to incorporate circle representation, encompassing consistent circle detection, circle contour proposal, and circular convolution in a unified framework. This integration is achieved through the novel application of circular graph convolution within the context of circle detection and instance segmentation. In practical applications, such as the detection of glomeruli, nuclei, and eosinophils in pathological images, CircleSnake has demonstrated superior performance and greater rotation invariance when compared to benchmarks. The code has been made publicly available: https://github.com/hrlblab/CircleSnake.

Monitoring the distribution and size structure of long-living shrubs, such as Juniperus communis, can be used to estimate the long-term effects of climate change on high-mountain and high latitude ecosystems. Historical aerial very-high resolution imagery offers a retrospective tool to monitor shrub growth and distribution at high precision. Currently, deep learning models provide impressive results for detecting and delineating the contour of objects with defined shapes. However, adapting these models to detect natural objects that express complex growth patterns, such as junipers, is still a challenging task.
This research presents a novel approach that leverages remotely sensed RGB imagery in conjunction with Mask R-CNN-based instance segmentation models to individually delineate Juniperus shrubs above the treeline in Sierra Nevada (Spain). In this study, we propose a new data construction design that consists in using photo interpreted (PI) and field work (FW) data to respectively develop and externally validate the model. We also propose a new shrub-tailored evaluation algorithm based on a new metric called Multiple Intersections over Ground Truth Area (MIoGTA) to assess and optimize the model shrub delineation performance. Finally, we deploy the developed model for the first time to generate a wall-to-wall map of Juniperus individuals.
The experimental results demonstrate the efficiency of our dual data construction approach in overcoming the limitations associated with traditional field survey methods. They also highlight the robustness of MIoGTA metric in evaluating instance segmentation models on species with complex growth patterns showing more resilience against data annotation uncertainty. Furthermore, they show the effectiveness of employing Mask R-CNN with ResNet101-C4 backbone in delineating PI and FW shrubs, achieving an F1-score of 87,87% and 76.86%, respectively.

We theoretically study the superconducting diode effect in a three-terminal Josephson junction. The diode effect in superconducting systems is typically related to the presence of a difference in the critical currents for currents flowing in the opposite direction. We show that in multi-terminal systems this effect occurs naturally without the need of the presence of any spin interactions and is a result of the presence of a relative shift between the Andreev bound states carrying the supercurrent. On an example of a three-terminal junction, we demonstrate that the non-reciprocal current in one of the superconducting contacts can be induced by proper phase biasing of the other contacts, provided that there are at least two Andreev bound states in the system and the symmetry of the system is broken. This result is confirmed in numerical models describing the junctions in both the short- and long-regime. By optimizing the geometry of the junction, we show that the efficiency of the realized superconducting diode exceeds $35 \%$. We relate our predictions to recent experiments on multi-terminal junctions, in which non-reciprocal supercurrents were observed.

These boundary conditions fix a combination of the derivatives of the fluctuations, parallel and transverse to the boundary. We holographically compute the correlation functions of insertions on the Wilson line in terms of world-sheet Witten diagrams. We observe that their functional dependence is consistent with the conformal symmetry on the line.

Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is a chronic and relapsing disease characterized by esophageal inflammation. Symptoms of EoE include difficulty swallowing, food impaction, and chest pain which significantly impact the quality of life, resulting in nutritional impairments, social limitations, and psychological distress. The diagnosis of EoE is typically performed with a threshold (15 to 20) of eosinophils (Eos) per high-power field (HPF). Since the current counting process of Eos is a resource-intensive process for human pathologists, automatic methods are desired. Circle representation has been shown as a more precise, yet less complicated, representation for automatic instance cell segmentation such as CircleSnake approach. However, the CircleSnake was designed as a single-label model, which is not able to deal with multi-label scenarios. In this paper, we propose the multi-label CircleSnake model for instance segmentation on Eos. It extends the original CircleSnake model from a single-label design to a multi-label model, allowing segmentation of multiple object types. Experimental results illustrate the CircleSnake model's superiority over the traditional Mask R-CNN model and DeepSnake model in terms of average precision (AP) in identifying and segmenting eosinophils, thereby enabling enhanced characterization of EoE. This automated approach holds promise for streamlining the assessment process and improving diagnostic accuracy in EoE analysis. Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE) is a chronic, immune/antigen-mediated esophageal disease, characterized by symptoms related to esophageal dysfunction and histological evidence of eosinophil-dominant inflammation. Owing to the intricate microscopic representation of EoE in imaging, current methodologies which depend on manual identification are not only labor-intensive but also prone to inaccuracies. In this study, we develop an open-source toolkit, named Open-EoE, to perform end-to-end whole slide image (WSI) level eosinophil (Eos) detection using one line of command via Docker. Specifically, the toolkit supports three state-of-the-art deep learning-based object detection models. Furthermore, Open-EoE further optimizes the performance by implementing an ensemble learning strategy, and enhancing the precision and reliability of our results. The experimental results demonstrated that the Open-EoE toolkit can efficiently detect Eos on a testing set with 289 WSIs. At the widely accepted threshold of >= 15 Eos per high power field (HPF) for diagnosing EoE, the Open-EoE achieved an accuracy of 91%, showing decent consistency with pathologist evaluations. This suggests a promising avenue for integrating machine learning methodologies into the diagnostic process for EoE. The docker and source code has been made publicly available at https://github.com/hrlblab/Open-EoE.

Network Slicing (NS) is an essential technique extensively used in 5G networks computing strategies, mobile edge computing, mobile cloud computing, and verticals like the Internet of Vehicles and industrial IoT, among others. NS is foreseen as one of the leading enablers for 6G futuristic and highly demanding applications since it allows the optimization and customization of scarce and disputed resources among dynamic, demanding clients with highly distinct application requirements. Various standardization organizations, like 3GPP's proposal for new generation networks and state-of-the-art 5G/6G research projects, are proposing new NS architectures. However, new NS architectures have to deal with an extensive range of requirements that inherently result in having NS architecture proposals typically fulfilling the needs of specific sets of domains with commonalities. The Slicing Future Internet Infrastructures (SFI2) architecture proposal explores the gap resulting from the diversity of NS architectures target domains by proposing a new NS reference architecture with a defined focus on integrating experimental networks and enhancing the NS architecture with Machine Learning (ML) native optimizations, energy-efficient slicing, and slicing-tailored security functionalities. The SFI2 architectural main contribution includes the utilization of the slice-as-a-service paradigm for end-to-end orchestration of resources across multi-domains and multi-technology experimental networks. In addition, the SFI2 reference architecture instantiations will enhance the multi-domain and multi-technology integrated experimental network deployment with native ML optimization, energy-efficient aware slicing, and slicing-tailored security functionalities for the practical domain.

We theoretically investigate the possibility of obtaining Majorana zero modes (MZMs) in penta-silicene nanoribbons (p-SiNRs) with induced \textit{p}-wave superconductivity. The model explicitly considers an external magnetic field perpendicularly applied to the nanoribbon plane, as well as an extrinsic Rashba spin-orbit coupling (RSOC), in addition to the first nearest neighbor hopping term and \textit{p}-wave superconducting pairing. By analyzing the dispersion relation profiles, we observe the successive closing and reopening of the induced superconducting gap with a single spin component, indicating a spin-polarized topological phase transition (TPT). Correspondingly, the plots of the energy spectrum versus the chemical potential reveal the existence of zero-energy states with a preferential spin orientation characterized by nonoverlapping wave functions localized at opposite ends of the superconducting p-SiNRs. These findings strongly suggest the emergence of topologically protected, spin-polarized MZMs at the ends of the p-SiNRs with induced \textit{p}-wave superconducting pairing, which can be realized by proximitizing the nanoribbon with an \textit{s}-wave superconductor, such as lead. The proposal paves the way for silicene-based Majorana devices hosting multiple MZMs with a well-defined spin orientation, with possible applications in fault-tolerant quantum computing platforms and Majorana spintronics.

We begin with the construction of an open spin chain that describes the anomalous dimensions of operators inserted along the contour of a 1/2 BPS Wilson loop. Moreover, we compute the all-loop reflection matrices that govern the interaction of spin-chain excitations with the boundary, including their dressing factors, and we check them against weak- and strong-coupling results. Furthermore, we propose a $Y$-system of equations for the cusped Wilson line of ABJM, and we use it to reproduce the one-loop cusp anomalous dimension of ABJM from a leading-order finite-size correction. Finally, we write a set of BTBA equations consistent with the $Y$-system proposal.

We consider two-point correlators of local operator insertions in a system of two Wilson-Maldacena loops in ${\cal N}=4$ supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory on both sides of the AdS/CFT correspondence. On the holographic side the correlator of two Wilson-Maldacena loops is given by a classical string world-sheet which in one phase connects two asymptotically AdS$_2$ regions and in the other phase is given by two disconnected AdS$_2$ caps; this configuration breaks supersymmetry as well as conformal invariance. We present a complete systematic account of the string world-sheet fluctuations, including the fermionic sector, and study the behavior of the holographic two-point correlators. On the field theory side we compute certain two-point correlators of local operator insertions by resumming sets of ladder diagrams. Our results demonstrate the efficacy of previously developed methods in tackling this non-conformal, non-susy regime.

We consider two instances of boundary conditions for massless scalars on $AdS_2$ that interpolate between the Dirichlet and Neumann cases while preserving scale invariance. Assessing invariance under the full $SL(2;\mathds{R})$ conformal group is not immediate given their non-local nature. To further clarify this issue, we compute holographically 2- and 4-point correlation functions using the aforementioned boundary conditions and study their transformation properties. Concretely, motivated by the dual description of some multi-parametric families of Wilson loops in ABJM theory, we look at the excitations of an open string around an $AdS_2\subset AdS_4\times\mathbb{CP}^3$ worldsheet, thus obtaining correlators of operators inserted along a $1$-dimensional defect in ${\cal N}=6$ super Chern-Simons-matter theory at strong coupling. Of the two types of boundary conditions analyzed, only one leads to the expected functional structure for conformal primaries; the other exhibits covariance under translations and rescalings but not under special conformal transformations.

Topological one-dimensional superconductors can sustain in their extremities zero energy modes that are protected by different kinds of symmetries. The observation of these excitations in the form of Majorana fermions is one of the most intensive quests in condensed matter physics. Their study is not only interesting in itself, but also because they have promising applications in the area of quantum computation. In this work we are interested in another class of one dimensional topological systems, namely topological insulators. These also present symmetry protected end modes with robust properties and do not require the low temperatures necessary for topological superconductivity. We consider the simplest kind of topological insulators, namely chains of atoms with hybridized $sp$ orbitals. We study the transport properties of these chains in the trivial, non-trivial topological phases and at the quantum topological transition. We use a simple device consisting of two semi-infinite hybridized $sp$-chains connected to a quantum dot and obtain the thermoelectric properties of this system as a function of temperature and distance to the topological transition. We show that the electrical conductance and the Wiedemann-Franz ratio of the device at the topological transition have universal values at very low temperatures. The thermopower gives direct evidence of fractional charges in these systems.

We prove a tight and close-to-optimal lower bound on the effectiveness of local quantum measurements (without classical communication) at discriminating any two bipartite quantum states. Our result implies, for example, that any two orthogonal quantum states of a $n_A\times n_B$ bipartite quantum system can be discriminated via local measurements with an error probability no larger than $\frac12 \left(1 - \frac{1}{c \min\{n_A, n_B\}} \right)$, where $1\leq c\leq 2\sqrt2$ is a universal constant, and our bound scales provably optimally with the local dimensions $n_A,n_B$. Mathematically, this is achieved by showing that the distinguishability norm $\|\cdot\|_{LO}$ associated with local measurements satisfies that $\|\cdot\|_1\leq 2\sqrt2 \min\{n_A,n_B\} \|\cdot\|_{LO}$, where $\|\cdot\|_1$ is the trace norm.

We study supersymmetric open strings in type IIB $AdS_3 \times S^3 \times S^3 \times S^1$ with mixed R-R and NS-NS fields. We focus on strings ending along a straight line at the boundary of $AdS_3$, which can be interpreted as line operators in a dual CFT$_2$. We study both classical configurations and quadratic fluctuations around them. We find that strings sitting at a fixed point in $S^3 \times S^3 \times S^1$, i.e. satisfying Dirichlet boundary conditions, are 1/2 BPS. We also show that strings sitting at different points of certain submanifolds of $S^3 \times S^3 \times S^1$ can still share some fraction of the supersymmetry. This allows to define supersymmetric smeared configurations by the superposition of them, which range from 1/2 BPS to 1/8 BPS. In addition to the smeared configurations, there are as well 1/4 BPS and 1/8 BPS strings satisfying Neumann boundary conditions. All these supersymmetric strings are shown to be connected by a network of interpolating BPS boundary conditions. Our study reveals the existence of a rich moduli of supersymmetric open string configurations, for which the appearance of massless fermionic fields in the spectrum of quadratic fluctuations is crucial.

We considered a minimal model composed by first nearest neighbor hopping, Rashba spin-orbit coupling (RSOC), p-wave superconducting pairing, and an applied external magnetic field (EMF). The energy spectrum regions with either spin up or down MZMs belong to distinct topological phase transitions characterized by their corresponding winding numbers and can be accessed by tunning the chemical potential of the nanoribbons. Hybrid systems constituted by zHNRs deposited on conventional s-wave superconductors are potential candidates for experimentally realizing the proposal. It aims to be a quick introduction to the state of the art in the field and a discussion of open problems. It is divided into short chapters devoted to different questions and techniques. Some new results, perspectives and speculations are also presented. We hope this might serve as a baseline for further studies of this topic.

Since we work without any compatibility or categorical assumption, our results are flexible enough to generalize most known results for commutators or translation operators, in particular those of Cwikel, Kalton, Milman, Rochberg \cite{ckmr} for differential methods and those of Carro, Cerdà and Soria \cite{caceso} for compatible interpolators. We also generalize stability and singularity results in \cite{cfg,ccfg,correa} from the complex method to general differential methods and obtain new incomparability results.

Typically, in the literature, the detection of DoS attacks is performed solely by analyzing the traffic of packets in the network. This work advocates for the use of telemetry from the cloud to detect DoS attacks using Machine Learning algorithms. Our hypothesis is based on richness of such native data collection services, with metrics from both physical and virtual hosts. Our preliminary results demonstrate that DoS can be identified accurately with k-Nearest Neighbors (kNN) and decision tree (CART).

For real values of the parameters specifying the dual string configuration, a typical Gross-Ooguri phase transition is observed. In addition, we explore some analytic continuation of a parameter $γ$ that characterizes the internal space separation. This enables a ladder limit in which ladder resummation and string theory computations precisely agree in the strong coupling limit. Finally, we find a critical value of $γ$ for which the correlator is supersymmetric and ladder diagrams can be exactly resummed for any value of the coupling constant.

We study narrow zigzag graphene nanoribbons (ZGNRs), employing density functional theory (DFT) simulations and the tight-binding (TB) method. The main result of these calculations is the braiding of the conduction and valence bands, generating Dirac cones for non-commensurate wave vectors $\vec{k}$. Employing a TB Hamiltonian, we show that the braiding is generated by the third-neighbor hopping (N3). We calculate the band structure, the density of states and the conductance, new conductance channels are opened, and the conductance at the Fermi energy assumes integer multiples of the quantum conductance unit $G_{o} = 2e^{2}/h$. We also investigate the satisfaction of the Stoner criterion by these ZGNRs. We calculate the magnetic properties of the fundamental state employing LSDA (spin-unrestricted DFT) and we confirm that ZGNRs with $N=(2,3)$ do not satisfy the Stoner criterion and as such the magnetic order could not be developed at their edges. These results are confirmed by both tight-binding and LSDA calculations.

We consider a fundamental string in a bubbling geometry of arbitrary genus dual to a half-supersymmetric Wilson loop in a general large representation $\mathbf{R}$ of the $SU(N)$ gauge group in ${\cal N}=4$ Supersymmetric Yang-Mills. We demonstrate, under some mild conditions, that the minimum value of the string classical action for a bubbling geometry of arbitrary genus precisely matches the correlator of a Wilson loop in the fundamental representation and one in a general large representation. We work out the case in which the large representation is given by a rectangular Young Tableau, corresponding to a genus one bubbling geometry, explicitly. We also present explicit results in the field theory for a correlator of two Wilson loops: a large one in an arbitrary representation and a "small" one in the fundamental, totally symmetric or totally antisymmetric representation.

This problem leads us to the study of short exact sequences of operator spaces, more specifically those induced by complex interpolation, and their splitting. We study a D3-D5 system dual to a conformal field theory with a codimension-one defect that separates regions where the ranks of the gauge groups differ by $k$. With the help of this additional parameter, as observed by Nagasaki, Tanida and Yamaguchi, one can define a double scaling limit in which the quantum corrections are organized in powers of $λ/k^2$, which should allow to extrapolate results between weak and strong coupling regimes. In particular we consider a radius $R$ circular Wilson loop placed at a distance $L$, whose internal space orientation is given by an angle $χ$. We compute its vacuum expectation value and show that, in the double scaling limit and for small $χ$ and small $L/R$, weak coupling results can be extrapolated to the strong coupling limit.

We study the cusped Wilson line operators and Bremsstrahlung functions associated to particles transforming in the rank-$k$ symmetric representation of the gauge group $U(N)$ for ${\cal N} = 4$ super Yang-Mills. We find the holographic D3-brane description for Wilson loops with internal cusps in two different limits: small cusp angle and $k\sqrtλ\gg N$. This allows for a non-trivial check of a conjectured relation between the Bremsstrahlung function and the expectation value of the 1/2 BPS circular loop in the case of a representation other than the fundamental. Moreover, we observe that in the limit of $k\gg N$, the cusped Wilson line expectation value is simply given by the exponential of the 1-loop diagram. Using group theory arguments, this eikonal exponentiation is conjectured to take place for all Wilson loop operators in symmetric representations with large $k$, independently of the contour on which they are supported.

We show that the reflections are of the achiral type. We also show that the reflection matrices satisfy the boundary Yang-Baxter equations for both orientations. In the horizontal case the reflection matrix can be interpreted in terms of a bulk S-matrix, S(p, -p), and factorizability of boundary scattering therefore follows from that of bulk scattering. Finally, we solve the nested coordinate Bethe ansatz for the system in the vertical case to find the Bethe equations. In the horizontal case, the Bethe equations are of the same form as those for the closed string.

Therefore, in the large-N limit, they should be dual to classical solutions of type IIB supergravity that asymptotically approach AdS5xS5. Each probability distribution can be described as the partition function of a matrix model (different wavefunctions correspond to different matrix model potentials) which we study by means of a saddle point approximation. In each case we consider two possible orientations for the vacuum state. We show that symmetry arguments are sufficient to determine the reflection matrices up to at most two unknown functions. The D7 reflection matrices obey the boundary Yang Baxter-Equation. This is automatic for one vacuum orientation, and requires a natural choice of ratio between two unknowns for the other. The stability of certain class of asymptotically AdS wormholes in vacuum against scalar field perturbations is analyzed. For a free massive scalar field, the stability of the perturbation is guaranteed provided the squared mass is bounded from below by a negative quantity. Depending on the base manifold of the AdS asymptotics, this lower bound could be more stringent than the Breitenlohner-Freedman bound. An exact expression for the spectrum is found analytically. For a scalar field perturbation with a nonminimal coupling, slow fall-off asymptotic behavior is also allowed, provided the squared mass fulfills certain negative upper bound. Although the Ricci scalar is not constant, an exact expression for the spectrum of the scalar field can also be found, and three different quantizations for the scalar field can be carried out. They are characterized by the fall-off of the scalar field, which can be fast or slow with respect to each asymptotic region. For these perturbations, stability can be achieved in a range of negative squared masses which depends on the base manifold of the AdS asymptotics. This analysis also extends to a class of gravitational solitons with a single conformal boundary.

We study how geometrical and topological aspects of certain 1/2 BPS type IIB supergravity solutions are captured by the N=4 Super Yang-Mills gauge theory in the AdS/CFT context. The type IIB solutions are completely characterized by arbitrary droplets in a plane and we consider, in particular, concentric droplets. We probe the dual 1/2 BPS operators of the gauge theory with single traces and extract their one-loop anomalous dimensions. The action of the one-loop dilatation operator can be reformulated as the Hamiltonian of a bosonic lattice. The operators defining the Hamiltonian encode the topology of the droplet. The axial symmetry of the droplets turns out to be essential for obtaining the spectrum of the Hamiltonians. In appropriate BMN limits, the near-BPS spectrum reproduces the spectrum of near-BPS string excitations propagating along each individual edge of the droplet of the dual geometric background. We also study semiclassical regimes for the Hamiltonians. We show that for droplets having disconnected constituents, the Hamiltonian admits different complimentary semiclassical descriptions, each one replicating the semiclassical description for closed strings extending in each of the constituents.

We study the one-loop anomalous dimensions of the Super Yang-Mills dual operators to open strings ending on AdS giant gravitons. AdS giant gravitons have no upper bound for their angular momentum and we represent them by the contraction of scalar fields, carrying the appropriate R-charge, with a totally symmetric tensor. We represent the open string motion along AdS directions by appending to the giant graviton operator a product of fields including covariant derivatives. We derive a bosonic lattice Hamiltonian that describes the mixing of these excited AdS giants operators under the action of the one-loop dilatation operator of N=4 SYM. This Hamiltonian captures several intuitive differences with respect to the case of sphere giant gravitons. A semiclassical analysis of the Hamiltonian allows us to give a geometrical interpretation for the labeling used to describe the fields products appended to the AdS giant operators. It also allows us to show evidence for the existence of continuous bands in the Hamiltonian spectrum.

Abstract:
We systematically study the spectrum of open strings attached to half BPS giant gravitons in the N=4 SYM AdS/CFT setup. We find that some null trajectories along the giant graviton are actually null geodesics of AdS_5x S^5, so that we can study the problem in a plane wave limit setup. We also find the description of these states at weak 't Hooft coupling in the dual CFT. We show how the dual des…

We find that some null trajectories along the giant graviton are actually null geodesics of AdS_5x S^5, so that we can study the problem in a plane wave limit setup. We also find the description of these states at weak 't Hooft coupling in the dual CFT. We show how the dual description is given by an open spin chain with variable number of sites. We analyze this system in detail and find numerical evidence for integrability. We also discover an interesting instability of long open strings in Ramond-Ramond backgrounds that is characterized by having a continuum spectrum of the string, which is separated from the ground state by a gap. This instability arises from accelerating the D-brane on which the strings end via the Ramond-Ramond field. From the integrable spin chain point of view, this instability prevents us from formulating the integrable structure in terms of a Bethe Ansatz construction.

We focus mainly on the case where the parameter q is a root of unity, so that the AdS dual of the field theory can be associated to an orbifold of AdS_5x S^5. We show that in the large N limit, BPS states are described by density distributions of eigenvalues and we assign to these distributions a geometrical spacetime interpretation. We go beyond BPS configurations by turning on perturbative non-q-commuting excitations. Considering states in an appropriate BMN limit, we use a saddle point approximation to compute the BMN energy to all perturbative orders in the 't Hooft coupling. We also examine some BMN like states that correspond to twisted sector string states in the orbifold and we show that our geometrical interpretation of the system is consistent with the quantum numbers of the corresponding states under the quantum symmetry of the orbifold.

We study a quantum corrected SO(6) invariant matrix quantum mechanics obtained from the s-wave modes of the scalars of N = 4 SYM on S^3. For commuting matrices, this model is believed to describe the 1/8 BPS states of the full SYM theory. In the large N limit the ground state corresponds to a distribution of eigenvalues on a S^5 which we identify with the sphere on the dual geometry AdS_5x S^5. We then consider non-BPS excitations by studying matrix perturbations where the off-diagonal modes are treated perturbatively. To a first approximation, these modes can be described by a free theory of "string bits" whose energies depend on the diagonal degrees of freedom. We then consider a state with two string bits and large angular momentum J on the sphere. In the large J limit we use a simple saddle point approximation to show that the energy of these states coincides precisely with the BMN spectrum to all orders in the 't Hooft coupling. We also find some new problems with the all loop Bethe Ansatz conjecture of the N=4 SYM planar spin chain model.
