Objective: We seek stable Electrophysiological Source Imaging (ESI) biomarkers associated with Gait Speed (GS) as a measure of functional decline. Towards this end we determine the predictive value of ESI activation and connectivity patterns of resting-state EEG Theta rhythm on physical performance decline measured by a slowing GS in aging individuals. Methods: As potential biomarkers related to GS changes, we estimate ESI using flexible sparse/smooth/non-negative models (NN-SLASSO), from which activation ESI (aESI) and connectivity ESI (cESI) features are selected using the Stable Sparse Classifier method. Results and Conclusions: Novel sparse aESI models outperformed traditional methods such as the LORETA family. The models combining aESI and cESI features improved the predictability of GS changes. Selected biomarkers from activation/connectivity patterns were localized to orbitofrontal and temporal cortical regions. Significance: The proposed methodology contributes to understanding the activation and connectivity of ESI complex patterns related to GS, providing potential biomarker features for GS slowing. Given the known relationship between GS decline and cognitive impairment, this preliminary work suggests it might be applied to other, more complex measures of healthy and pathological aging. Importantly, it might allow an ESI-based evaluation of rehabilitation programs.

We construct conformastat spherically symmetric spacetimes representing anisotropic fluid matter distributions from given solutions of the Poisson's equation of Newtonian gravity and its corresponding circular speed profile. As simple examples, we present three families of spherically symmetric spacetimes which we apply in constructing new models of relativistic anisotropic thick spherical shells, and of relativistic galaxy models composite by a central spherical bulge, the thick disk and the dark matter halo, writing in this case the metric in cylindrical coordinates. Moreover, the geodesic motion of test particles in stable circular orbits around such structures is studied. We build anisotropic fluid sources for these spacetimes which satisfy all the energy conditions and the principal stresses are positive quantities (pressure).

In this paper, we present an algorithm that computes the topological signature for a given periodic motion sequence. Such signature consists of a vector obtained by persistent homology which captures the topological and geometric changes of the object that models the motion. Two topological signatures are compared simply by the angle between the corresponding vectors. With respect to gait recognition, we have tested our method using only the lowest fourth part of the body's silhouette. In this way, the impact of variations in the upper part of the body, which are very frequent in real scenarios, decreases considerably. We have also tested our method using other periodic motions such as running or jumping. Finally, we formally prove that our method is robust to small perturbations in the input data and does not depend on the number of periods contained in the periodic motion sequence.

Classification in the dissimilarity space has become a very active research area since it provides a possibility to learn from data given in the form of pairwise non-metric dissimilarities, which otherwise would be difficult to cope with. The selection of prototypes is a key step for the further creation of the space. However, despite previous efforts to find good prototypes, how to select the best representation set remains an open issue. In this paper we proposed scalable methods to select the set of prototypes out of very large datasets. The methods are based on genetic algorithms, dissimilarity-based hashing, and two different unsupervised and supervised scalable criteria. The unsupervised criterion is based on the Minimum Spanning Tree of the graph created by the prototypes as nodes and the dissimilarities as edges. The supervised criterion is based on counting matching labels of objects and their closest prototypes. The suitability of these type of algorithms is analyzed for the specific case of dissimilarity representations. The experimental results showed that the methods select good prototypes taking advantage of the large datasets, and they do so at low runtimes.

In other words, we show that the topological gait signature is robust to the presence of noise in the body silhouettes and to the number of gait cycles contained in a given gait sequence. % We also show that computing our topological gait signature of only the lowest fourth part of the body silhouette, we avoid the upper body movements that are unrelated to the natural dynamic of the gait, caused for example by carrying a bag or wearing a coat.

Analytical models of axially symmetric thin disks of finite extension in presence of magnetic field are presented based on the well-known Morgan-Morgan solutions. The source of the magnetic field is cons\-tructed separating the equation corresponding to the Ampere's law of electrodynamics in spheroidal oblate coordinates. This produces two asso\-ciated Legendre equations of first order for the magnetic potential and hence that can be expressed as a series of associated Legendre functions of the same order. The discontinuity of its normal derivate across the disk allows us to interpret the source of the magnetic field as a ringlike current distribution extended on all the plane of the disk. We also study the circular speed curves or rotation curve for equatorial circular orbits of charged test particles both inside and outside the disk. The stability of the orbits is analyzed for radial perturbation using a extension of the Rayleigh criterion.

We also analyze a simple model of active galactic nuclei consisting of black hole, a Kuzmin-Chazy-Curzon disk and two rods representing jets, in presence of magnetic field. To explain the stability of the disks we consider the matter of the disk made of two pressureless streams of counterrotating charged particles (counterrotating model) moving along electrogeodesic. Using the Rayleigh criterion we derivate for circular orbits the stability conditions of the particles of the streams. The influence of the magnetic field on the matter properties of the disk and on its stability are also analyzed.

We construct three families of general magnetostatic axisymmetric exact solutions of Einstein-Maxwell equations in spherical coordinates, prolate, and oblates. The solutions obtained are then presented in the system of generalized spheroidal coordinates which is a generalization of the previous systems. The method used to build such solutions is the well-known complex potential formalism proposed by Ernst, using as seed solutions vacuum solutions of the Einstein field equations. We show explicitly some particular solutions among them a magnetized Erez-Rosen solution and a magnetized Morgan-Morgan solution, which we interpret as the exterior gravitational field of a finite dislike source immersed in a magnetic field. From them we also construct using the well known "displace, cut and reflect" method exact solutions representing relativistic thin disks of infinite extension. We then analyze the motion of electrically charged test particles around these fields for equatorial circular orbits and we discuss their stability against radial perturbations. For magnetized Morgan-Morgan fields we find that inside of disk the presence of magnetic field provides the possibility of to find relativist charged particles moving in both prograde and retrograde direction.

A detailed study is presented of the counterrotating model (CRM) for electrovacuum stationary axially symmetric relativistic thin disks of infinite extension without radial stress, in the case when the eigenvalues of the energy-momentum tensor of the disk are real quantities, so that there is not heat flow. We find a general constraint over the counterrotating tangential velocities needed to cast the surface energy-momentum tensor of the disk as the superposition of two counterrotating charged dust fluids. We then show that, in some cases, this constraint can be satisfied if we take the two counterrotating tangential velocities as equal and opposite or by taking the two counterrotating streams as circulating along electro-geodesics. However, we show that, in general, it is not possible to take the two counterrotating fluids as circulating along electro-geodesics nor take the two counterrotating tangential velocities as equal and opposite. A simple family of models of counterrotating charged disks based on the Kerr-Newman solution are considered where we obtain some disks with a CRM well behaved. We also show that the disks constructed from the Kerr-Newman solution can be interpreted, for all the values of parameters, as a matter distribution with currents and purely azimuthal pressure without heat flow. The models are constructed using the well-known "displace, cut and reflect" method extended to solutions of vacuum Einstein-Maxwell equations. The interpretation of a family of electrovacuum stationary Taub-NUT-type fields in terms of finite charged perfect fluid disks is presented. The interpretation is mades by means of an "inverse problem" approach used to obtain disk sources of known solutions of the Einstein or Einstein-Maxwell equations. The diagonalization of the energy-momentum tensor of the disks is facilitated in this case by the fact that it can be written as an upper right triangular matrix. We find that the inclusion of electromagnetic fields changes significatively the different material properties of the disks and so we can obtain, for some values of the parameters, finite charged perfect fluid disks that are in agreement with all the energy conditions.

The assignment of horizontal charges is made such that at tree level only the third family becomes massive when electroweak symmetry is broken. Using these tree level masses and introducing exotic scalars, the light families of charged fermions acquire hierarchical masses through radiative corrections. The rank three mass matrices obtained are written in terms of a minimal set of free parameters in order to estimate their values by a numerical fit performance.
The resulting masses and CKM mixing angles turn out to be in good agreement with the known values.
