Abstract:
We classify 1-dimensional connected dually flat manifolds $M$ that are toric in the sense of [Molitor, arXiv:2109.04839], and show that the corresponding torifications are complex space forms. Special emphasis is put on the case where M is an exponential family defined over a finite set.

This article describes the future P2 parity-violating electron scattering facility at the upcoming MESA accelerator in Mainz. The physics program of the facility comprises indirect, high precision search for physics beyond the Standard Model, measurement of the neutron distribution in nuclear physics, single-spin asymmetries stemming from two-photon exchange and a possible future extension to the measurement of hadronic parity violation. The first measurement of the P2 experiment aims for a high precision determination of the weak mixing angle to a precision of 0.14% at a four-momentum transfer of Q^2 = 4.5 10^{-3} GeV^2. The accuracy is comparable to existing measurements at the Z pole. It comprises a sensitive test of the standard model up to a mass scale of 50 TeV, extendable to 70 TeV. This requires a measurement of the parity violating cross section asymmetry -39.94 10^{-9} in the elastic electron-proton scattering with a total accuracy of 0.56 10^-9 (1.4 %) in 10,000 h of 150 \micro A polarized electron beam impinging on a 60 cm liquid H_2 target allowing for an extraction of the weak charge of the proton which is directly connected to the weak mixing angle. Contributions from gamma Z-box graphs become small at the small beam energy of 155 MeV. The size of the asymmetry is the smallest asymmetry ever measured in electron scattering with an unprecedented goal for the accuracy. We report here on the conceptual design of the P2 spectrometer, its Cherenkov detectors, the integrating read-out electronics as well as the ultra-thin, fast tracking detectors. There has been substantial theory work done in preparation of the determination of the weak mixing angle. The further physics program in particle and nuclear physics is described as well.

In this paper we show that the tangent bundle of $\mathcal{N}$, endowed with its natural Kähler structure, is the Siegel-Jacobi space appearing in the context of Number Theory and Jacobi forms. Geometrical aspects of the Siegel-Jacobi space are discussed in detail (completeness, curvature, group of holomorphic isometries, space of Kähler functions, relationship to the Jacobi group), and are related to the quantum formalism in its geometrical form, i.e., based on the Kähler structure of the complex projective space. This paper is a continuation of our previous work, where we studied the quantum formalism from a geometric and information-theoretical point of view.

The resulting equations turn out to be (a particular case of) the Euler-Yang-Mills equations of an incompressible classical charged ideal fluid moving on B. It is also shown that the group SAut(P,μ^{P} is an extension of a certain volume preserving diffeomorphisms group of B by the gauge group Gau(P) of P.

In this article, we use the Nash-Moser inverse function Theorem to show that the set of volume preserving embeddings in Emb_μ(M,N) whose mean curvature is nowhere vanishing forms a tame Fréchet manifold, and determine explicitly the Euler-Lagrange equations of a natural class of Lagrangians.
As an application, we generalize the Euler equations of an incompressible fluid to the case of an "incompressible membrane" of arbitrary dimension moving in N.

Let (M,g) be a compact, connected and oriented Riemannian manifold. We denote D the space of smooth probability density functions on M.
In this paper, we show that the Frechet manifold D is equipped with a Riemannian metric g^{D} and an affine connection \nabla^{D} which are infinite dimensional analogues of the Fisher metric and exponential connection in the context of information geometry. More precisely, we use Dombrowski's construction together with the couple (g^{D},\nabla^{D}) to get a (non-integrable) almost Hermitian structure on D, and we show that the corresponding fundamental 2-form is a symplectic form from which it is possible to recover the usual Schrodinger equation for a quantum particle living in M.
These results echo a recent paper of the author where it is stressed that the Fisher metric and exponential connection are related (via Dombrowski's construction) to Kahler geometry and quantum mechanics in finite dimension.

Exponential families are a particular class of statistical manifolds which are particularly important in statistical inference, and which appear very frequently in statistics. For example, the set of normal distributions, with mean μ and deviation σ, form a 2-dimensional exponential family.
In this paper, we show that the tangent bundle of an exponential family is naturally a Kahler manifold. This simple but crucial observation leads to the formalism of quantum mechanics in its geometrical form, i.e. based on the Kahler structure of the complex projective space, but generalizes also to more general Kahler manifolds, providing a natural geometric framework for the description of quantum systems. Many questions related to this "statistical Kahler geometry" are discussed, and a close connection with representation theory is observed. Examples of physical relevance are treated in details. For example, it is shown that the spin of a particle can be entirely understood by means of the usual binomial distribution. This paper centers on the mathematical foundations of quantum mechanics, and on the question of its potential generalization through its geometrical formulation.

A quantum system can be entirely described by the Kähler structure of the projective space P(H) associated to the Hilbert space H of possible states; this is the so-called geometrical formulation of quantum mechanics.
In this paper, we give an explicit link between the geometrical formulation (of finite dimensional quantum systems) and statistics through the natural geometry of the space Pn of non-vanishing probabilities p defined on a finite set En:={x1,...,xn}. More precisely, we use the Fisher metric and the exponential connection (both being natural statistical objects living on Pn) to construct, via the Dombrowski splitting Theorem, a Kähler structure on TPn (the tangent bundle of Pn) which has the property that it induces the natural Kähler structure of a suitably chosen open dense subset of the finite dimensional complex projective space.
