HfO2-based ferroelectric materials are promising for the next generation of memory devices, attracting significant attention. However, their potential applications are significantly limited by fatigue and imprint phenomena, which affect device lifetime and memory capabilities. Here, to accurately describe the dynamics and field effects of HfO2, we adopt our newly developed DREAM-Allegro network scheme and develop a comprehensive machine-learning model for HfO2. Such model can not only predict the interatomic potential, but also predict Born effective charges. Applying such model, we explore the role of domain dynamics in HfO2 and find that the fatigue and imprint phenomena are closely related to the so-called E-path and T-path switching pathways. Based on the different atomic motions in the two paths, we propose that an inclined electric field can sufficiently suppress fatigue and enhancing the performance of HfO2-based ferroelectric devices.

Semantic segmentation empowers numerous real-world applications, such as autonomous driving and augmented/mixed reality. These applications often operate on high-resolution images (e.g., 8 megapixels) to capture the fine details. However, this comes at the cost of considerable computational complexity, hindering the deployment in latency-sensitive scenarios. In this paper, we introduce SparseRefine, a novel approach that enhances dense low-resolution predictions with sparse high-resolution refinements. Based on coarse low-resolution outputs, SparseRefine first uses an entropy selector to identify a sparse set of pixels with high entropy. It then employs a sparse feature extractor to efficiently generate the refinements for those pixels of interest. Finally, it leverages a gated ensembler to apply these sparse refinements to the initial coarse predictions. SparseRefine can be seamlessly integrated into any existing semantic segmentation model, regardless of CNN- or ViT-based. SparseRefine achieves significant speedup: 1.5 to 3.7 times when applied to HRNet-W48, SegFormer-B5, Mask2Former-T/L and SegNeXt-L on Cityscapes, with negligible to no loss of accuracy. Our "dense+sparse" paradigm paves the way for efficient high-resolution visual computing.

Vision transformers have significantly advanced the field of computer vision, offering robust modeling capabilities and global receptive field. However, their high computational demands limit their applicability in processing long sequences. To tackle this issue, State Space Models (SSMs) have gained prominence in vision tasks as they offer linear computational complexity. Recently, State Space Duality (SSD), an improved variant of SSMs, was introduced in Mamba2 to enhance model performance and efficiency. However, the inherent causal nature of SSD/SSMs restricts their applications in non-causal vision tasks. To address this limitation, we introduce Visual State Space Duality (VSSD) model, which has a non-causal format of SSD. Specifically, we propose to discard the magnitude of interactions between the hidden state and tokens while preserving their relative weights, which relieves the dependencies of token contribution on previous tokens. Together with the involvement of multi-scan strategies, we show that the scanning results can be integrated to achieve non-causality, which not only improves the performance of SSD in vision tasks but also enhances its efficiency. We conduct extensive experiments on various benchmarks including image classification, detection, and segmentation, where VSSD surpasses existing state-of-the-art SSM-based models. The bilayer nickelate La$_3$Ni$_2$O$_7$ (LNO) exhibits a remarkably high-temperature superconductivity of approximately 80 K under pressure, sparking considerable attentions. However, the nature of the spin, charge, and orbital order in LNO remains unknown, hindering the exploration of the mechanism of superconductivity. Here, supported by symmetry analysis and density functional theory calculations, we unravel a double strip ground state of LNO with alternating magnetic moments arrangements. Interestingly, a charge density wave emerges under this determined magnetic order. Such CDW phase exhibits a Pmnm space group with breathing deformation of the NiO$_6$ octahedra, where the stretching and shrinking of the octahedra correspond to the formation of \emph{d}$_{z^2}^1$\emph{d}$_{x^2-y^2}^1$ and \emph{d}$_{z^2}^1$ orbital order. Moreover, we build a first-principles-based Hamiltonian for LNO, which provides deeper insight into its peculiar magnetic order. Our work thus reveals a systematic spin-charge-orbital picture for LNO, which can be extended to other nickelate-based superconductors, paving the way for determining the mechanism of superconductivity.

Type-II multiferroicity, where electric polarization is induced by specific spin patterns, is crucial in fundamental physics and advanced spintronics. However, the spin model and magnetoelectric coupling mechanisms in prototypical type-II multiferroic CuFeO$_2$ and Al-doped CuFeO$_2$ remain unclear. Here, by considering both spin and alloy degrees of freedom, we develop a magnetic cluster expansion method, which considers all symmetry allowed interactions. Applying such method, we not only obtain realistic spin model that can correctly reproduce observations for both CuFeO$_2$ and CuFe$_{1-x}$Al$_x$O$_2$, but also revisit well-known theories of the original spin-current (SC) model and $p$-$d$ hybridization model. Specifically, we find that (i) a previously overlooked biquadratic interaction is critical to reproduce the $\uparrow\uparrow\downarrow\downarrow$ ground state and excited states of CuFeO$_2$; (ii) the combination of absent biquadratic interaction and increased magnetic frustration around Al dopants stabilizes the proper screw state; and (iii) it is the generalized spin-current (GSC) model that can correctly characterize the multiferroicity of CuFeO$_2$. These findings have broader implications for understanding novel magnetoelectric couplings in, e.g., monolayer multiferroic NiI$_2$.

Accurately and promptly predicting accidents among surrounding traffic agents from camera footage is crucial for the safety of autonomous vehicles (AVs). This task presents substantial challenges stemming from the unpredictable nature of traffic accidents, their long-tail distribution, the intricacies of traffic scene dynamics, and the inherently constrained field of vision of onboard cameras. To address these challenges, this study introduces a novel accident anticipation framework for AVs, termed CRASH. It seamlessly integrates five components: object detector, feature extractor, object-aware module, context-aware module, and multi-layer fusion. Specifically, we develop the object-aware module to prioritize high-risk objects in complex and ambiguous environments by calculating the spatial-temporal relationships between traffic agents. In parallel, the context-aware is also devised to extend global visual information from the temporal to the frequency domain using the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) and capture fine-grained visual features of potential objects and broader context cues within traffic scenes. To capture a wider range of visual cues, we further propose a multi-layer fusion that dynamically computes the temporal dependencies between different scenes and iteratively updates the correlations between different visual features for accurate and timely accident prediction. Evaluated on real-world datasets--Dashcam Accident Dataset (DAD), Car Crash Dataset (CCD), and AnAn Accident Detection (A3D) datasets--our model surpasses existing top baselines in critical evaluation metrics like Average Precision (AP) and mean Time-To-Accident (mTTA). Importantly, its robustness and adaptability are particularly evident in challenging driving scenarios with missing or limited training data, demonstrating significant potential for application in real-world autonomous driving systems.

Fine-Grained Object Detection (FGOD) is a critical task in high-resolution aerial image analysis. This letter introduces Orthogonal Mapping (OM), a simple yet effective method aimed at addressing the challenge of semantic confusion inherent in FGOD. OM introduces orthogonal constraints in the feature space by decoupling features from the last layer of the classification branch with a class-wise orthogonal vector basis. This effectively mitigates semantic confusion and enhances classification accuracy. Moreover, OM can be seamlessly integrated into mainstream object detectors. Extensive experiments conducted on three FGOD datasets (FAIR1M, ShipRSImageNet, and MAR20) demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed approach. Notably, with just one line of code, OM achieves a 4.08% improvement in mean Average Precision (mAP) over FCOS on the ShipRSImageNet dataset. In contemporary society, the issue of psychological health has become increasingly prominent, characterized by the diversification, complexity, and universality of mental disorders. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), currently the most influential and clinically effective psychological treatment method with no side effects, has limited coverage and poor quality in most countries. In recent years, researches on the recognition and intervention of emotional disorders using large language models (LLMs) have been validated, providing new possibilities for psychological assistance therapy. However, are LLMs truly possible to conduct cognitive behavioral therapy? Many concerns have been raised by mental health experts regarding the use of LLMs for therapy. Seeking to answer this question, we collected real CBT corpus from online video websites, designed and conducted a targeted automatic evaluation framework involving the evaluation of emotion tendency of generated text, structured dialogue pattern and proactive inquiry ability. For emotion tendency, we calculate the emotion tendency score of the CBT dialogue text generated by each model. For structured dialogue pattern, we use a diverse range of automatic evaluation metrics to compare speaking style, the ability to maintain consistency of topic and the use of technology in CBT between different models . As for inquiring to guide the patient, we utilize PQA (Proactive Questioning Ability) metric. We also evaluated the CBT ability of the LLM after integrating a CBT knowledge base to explore the help of introducing additional knowledge to enhance the model's CBT counseling ability. Four LLM variants with excellent performance on natural language processing are evaluated, and the experimental result shows the great potential of LLMs in psychological counseling realm, especially after combining with other technological means.

The autonomous mapping of large-scale urban scenes presents significant challenges for autonomous robots. To mitigate the challenges, global planning, such as utilizing prior GPS trajectories from OpenStreetMap (OSM), is often used to guide the autonomous navigation of robots for mapping. However, due to factors like complex terrain, unexpected body movement, and sensor noise, the uncertainty of the robot's pose estimates inevitably increases over time, ultimately leading to the failure of robotic mapping. To address this issue, we propose a novel active loop closure procedure, enabling the robot to actively re-plan the previously planned GPS trajectory. The method can guide the robot to re-visit the previous places where the loop-closure detection can be performed to trigger the back-end optimization, effectively reducing errors and uncertainties in pose estimation. The proposed active loop closure mechanism is implemented and embedded into a real-time OSM-guided robot mapping framework. As autonomous driving systems increasingly become part of daily transportation, the ability to accurately anticipate and mitigate potential traffic accidents is paramount. Traditional accident anticipation models primarily utilizing dashcam videos are adept at predicting when an accident may occur but fall short in localizing the incident and identifying involved entities. Addressing this gap, this study introduces a novel framework that integrates Large Language Models (LLMs) to enhance predictive capabilities across multiple dimensions--what, when, and where accidents might occur. We develop an innovative chain-based attention mechanism that dynamically adjusts to prioritize high-risk elements within complex driving scenes. This mechanism is complemented by a three-stage model that processes outputs from smaller models into detailed multimodal inputs for LLMs, thus enabling a more nuanced understanding of traffic dynamics. Empirical validation on the DAD, CCD, and A3D datasets demonstrates superior performance in Average Precision (AP) and Mean Time-To-Accident (mTTA), establishing new benchmarks for accident prediction technology. Our approach not only advances the technological framework for autonomous driving safety but also enhances human-AI interaction, making predictive insights generated by autonomous systems more intuitive and actionable.

Recent studies highlight the scientific importance and broad application prospects of two-dimensional (2D) sliding ferroelectrics, which prevalently exhibit vertical polarization with suitable stackings. It is crucial to understand the mechanisms of sliding ferroelectricity and to deterministically and efficiently switch the polarization with optimized electric fields. Here, applying our newly developed DREAM-Allegro multi-task equivariant neural network, which simultaneously predicts interatomic potentials and Born effective charges, we construct a comprehensive potential for boron nitride ($\mathrm{BN}$) bilayer. The molecular dynamics simulations reveal a remarkably high Curie temperature of up to 1500K, facilitated by robust intralayer chemical bonds and delicate interlayer van der Waals(vdW) interactions. More importantly, it is found that, compared to the out-of-plane electric field, the inclined field not only leads to deterministic switching of electric polarization, but also largely lower the critical strength of field, due to the presence of the in-plane polarization in the transition state. This strategy of an inclined field is demonstrated to be universal for other sliding ferroelectric systems with monolayer structures belonging to the symmetry group $p \bar{6} m 2$, such as transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs).

Few-shot action recognition aims to address the high cost and impracticality of manually labeling complex and variable video data in action recognition. It requires accurately classifying human actions in videos using only a few labeled examples per class. Compared to few-shot learning in image scenarios, few-shot action recognition is more challenging due to the intrinsic complexity of video data. Recognizing actions involves modeling intricate temporal sequences and extracting rich semantic information, which goes beyond mere human and object identification in each frame. Furthermore, the issue of intra-class variance becomes particularly pronounced with limited video samples, complicating the learning of representative features for novel action categories. To overcome these challenges, numerous approaches have driven significant advancements in few-shot action recognition, which underscores the need for a comprehensive survey. Unlike early surveys that focus on few-shot image or text classification, we deeply consider the unique challenges of few-shot action recognition. In this survey, we review a wide variety of recent methods and summarize the general framework. Additionally, the survey presents the commonly used benchmarks and discusses relevant advanced topics and promising future directions. We hope this survey can serve as a valuable resource for researchers, offering essential guidance to newcomers and stimulating seasoned researchers with fresh insights.

We investigate the advantages of nonreciprocal coupling in sensing a driving signal. In general, we find that the nonreciprocal coupling performs better than the corresponding reciprocal coupling. And we show that homodyne measurement is the optimal measurement. A single non-reciprocal coupling can increase measurement precision up to 2 times. Using $N$ non-reciprocal couplings in parallel, the measurement precision can be improved by $N^2$ times compared with the corresponding reciprocal coupling. An increasing number of Chinese people are troubled by different degrees of visual impairment, which has made the modal conversion between a single image or video frame in the visual field and the audio expressing the same information a research hotspot. Deep learning technologies such as OCR+Vocoder and Im2Wav enable English audio synthesis or image-to-sound matching in a self-supervised manner. However, the audio data used for training is limited and English is not universal for visually impaired people with different educational levels. Therefore, for the sake of solving the problems of data volume and language applicability to improve the reading efficiency of visually impaired people, a set of image-to-speech framework CLIP-KNN-Fastspeech2 based on the Chinese context was constructed. The framework integrates multiple basic models and adopts the strategy of independent pre-training and joint fine-tuning. First, the Chinese CLIP and Fastspeech2 text-to-speech models were pre-trained on two public datasets, MUGE and Baker, respectively, and their convergence was verified. Subsequently, joint fine-tuning was performed using a self-built Braille image dataset. Experimental results on multiple public datasets such as VGGSound, Flickr8k, ImageHear, and the self-built Braille dataset BIT-DP show that the model has improved objective indicators such as BLEU4,FAD(Fréchet Audio Distance), WER(Word Error Ratio), and even inference speed. This verifies that the constructed model still has the ability to synthesize high-quality speech under limited data, and also proves the effectiveness of the joint training strategy that integrates multiple basic models.

Bimetallic nanoalloys have gained extensive attention due to their tunable properties and wide range of catalytic applications. However, achieving good compositional control in nanoalloy catalysts remains a formidable challenge. In this work, we demonstrate that heat treatment can be used to tune the composition of Pt-Zn nanoalloy catalysts, leveraging the volatile nature of zinc to enhance their performance in propane dehydrogenation. Through identical location (scanning) transmission electron microscopy (IL-(S)TEM) using an in-situ EM gas cell, as well as other complementary techniques, we observed that the zinc content of the Pt-Zn nanoalloy particles decreased over time of the heat treatment under hydrogen. The rate of change depends on the original composition of the particles, as well as the heat treatment conditions such as temperature and flow rate. Our experimental results and theoretical calculations suggest that Zn in the intermetallic phase might be more stable, providing an opportunity for precise tuning the nanoparticle compositions. This approach presents a viable strategy for developing better Pt-Zn catalysts for propane dehydrogenation.

The advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) hinges on the quality and accessibility of data, yet the current fragmentation and variability of data sources hinder efficient data utilization. The dispersion of data sources and diversity of data formats often lead to inefficiencies in data retrieval and processing, significantly impeding the progress of AI research and applications. To address these challenges, this paper introduces OpenDataLab, a platform designed to bridge the gap between diverse data sources and the need for unified data processing. OpenDataLab integrates a wide range of open-source AI datasets and enhances data acquisition efficiency through intelligent querying and high-speed downloading services. The platform employs a next-generation AI Data Set Description Language (DSDL), which standardizes the representation of multimodal and multi-format data, improving interoperability and reusability. Additionally, OpenDataLab optimizes data processing through tools that complement DSDL. By integrating data with unified data descriptions and smart data toolchains, OpenDataLab can improve data preparation efficiency by 30\%. We anticipate that OpenDataLab will significantly boost artificial general intelligence (AGI) research and facilitate advancements in related AI fields. Recent breakthroughs in text-to-image diffusion models have significantly advanced the generation of high-fidelity, photo-realistic images from textual descriptions. Yet, these models often struggle with interpreting spatial arrangements from text, hindering their ability to produce images with precise spatial configurations. To bridge this gap, layout-to-image generation has emerged as a promising direction. However, training-based approaches are limited by the need for extensively annotated datasets, leading to high data acquisition costs and a constrained conceptual scope. Conversely, training-free methods face challenges in accurately locating and generating semantically similar objects within complex compositions. This paper introduces a novel training-free approach designed to overcome adversarial semantic intersections during the diffusion conditioning phase. By refining intra-token loss with selective sampling and enhancing the diffusion process with attention redistribution, we propose two innovative constraints: 1) an inter-token constraint that resolves token conflicts to ensure accurate concept synthesis; and 2) a self-attention constraint that improves pixel-to-pixel relationships. Our evaluations confirm the effectiveness of leveraging layout information for guiding the diffusion process, generating content-rich images with enhanced fidelity and complexity. The mainstream automatic speech recognition (ASR) technology usually requires hundreds to thousands of hours of annotated speech data. Three approaches to low-resourced ASR are phoneme or subword based supervised pre-training, and self-supervised pre-training over multilingual data. The Iu Mien language is the main ethnic language of the Yao ethnic group in China and is low-resourced in the sense that the annotated speech is very limited. With less than 10 hours of transcribed Iu Mien language, this paper investigates and compares the three approaches for Iu Mien speech recognition. Our experiments are based on the recently released, three backbone models pretrained over the 10 languages from the CommonVoice dataset (CV-Lang10), which correspond to the three approaches for low-resourced ASR. It is found that phoneme supervision can achieve better results compared to subword supervision and self-supervision, thereby providing higher data-efficiency. Particularly, the Whistle models, i.e., obtained by the weakly-supervised phoneme-based multilingual pre-training, obtain the most competitive results.

Large language models (LLMs) have demonstrated great success in various fields, benefiting from their huge amount of parameters that store knowledge. However, LLMs still suffer from several key issues, such as hallucination problems, knowledge update issues, and lacking domain-specific expertise. The appearance of retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), which leverages an external knowledge database to augment LLMs, makes up those drawbacks of LLMs. This paper reviews all significant techniques of RAG, especially in the retriever and the retrieval fusions. Besides, tutorial codes are provided for implementing the representative techniques in RAG. This paper further discusses the RAG training, including RAG with/without datastore update. Then, we introduce the application of RAG in representative natural language processing tasks and industrial scenarios. Finally, this paper discusses the future directions and challenges of RAG for promoting its development.

While rendering and animation of photorealistic 3D human body models have matured and reached an impressive quality over the past years, modeling the spatial audio associated with such full body models has been largely ignored so far. In this work, we present a framework that allows for high-quality spatial audio generation, capable of rendering the full 3D soundfield generated by a human body, including speech, footsteps, hand-body interactions, and others. Given a basic audio-visual representation of the body in form of 3D body pose and audio from a head-mounted microphone, we demonstrate that we can render the full acoustic scene at any point in 3D space efficiently and accurately. To enable near-field and realtime rendering of sound, we borrow the idea of volumetric primitives from graphical neural rendering and transfer them into the acoustic domain. Our acoustic primitives result in an order of magnitude smaller soundfield representations and overcome deficiencies in near-field rendering compared to previous approaches.

Generating human-object interactions (HOIs) is critical with the tremendous advances of digital avatars. Existing datasets are typically limited to humans interacting with a single object while neglecting the ubiquitous manipulation of multiple objects. Thus, we propose HIMO, a large-scale MoCap dataset of full-body human interacting with multiple objects, containing 3.3K 4D HOI sequences and 4.08M 3D HOI frames. We also annotate HIMO with detailed textual descriptions and temporal segments, benchmarking two novel tasks of HOI synthesis conditioned on either the whole text prompt or the segmented text prompts as fine-grained timeline control. To address these novel tasks, we propose a dual-branch conditional diffusion model with a mutual interaction module for HOI synthesis. Besides, an auto-regressive generation pipeline is also designed to obtain smooth transitions between HOI segments. Experimental results demonstrate the generalization ability to unseen object geometries and temporal compositions.

Novel view synthesis from unconstrained in-the-wild image collections remains a significant yet challenging task due to photometric variations and transient occluders that complicate accurate scene reconstruction. Previous methods have approached these issues by integrating per-image appearance features embeddings in Neural Radiance Fields (NeRFs). Although 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) offers faster training and real-time rendering, adapting it for unconstrained image collections is non-trivial due to the substantially different architecture. In this paper, we introduce Splatfacto-W, an approach that integrates per-Gaussian neural color features and per-image appearance embeddings into the rasterization process, along with a spherical harmonics-based background model to represent varying photometric appearances and better depict backgrounds. Our key contributions include latent appearance modeling, efficient transient object handling, and precise background modeling. Splatfacto-W delivers high-quality, real-time novel view synthesis with improved scene consistency in in-the-wild scenarios. Our method improves the Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) by an average of 5.3 dB compared to 3DGS, enhances training speed by 150 times compared to NeRF-based methods, and achieves a similar rendering speed to 3DGS. Additional video results and code integrated into Nerfstudio are available at https://kevinxu02.github.io/splatfactow/.

The process $Λ_c^+\toΛa_0(980)^+$ is observed for the first time, and evidence for the pentaquark candidate $Σ(1380)^+$ decaying into $Λπ^+$ is found with statistical significance larger than $3σ$. The branching fraction product $\mathcal{B}(Λ_{c}^{+} \to Λa_0(980)^+) \; \mathcal{B}( a_0(980)^+ \to π^{+}η)$ is determined to be $(1.05 \pm 0.16_{\mathrm{stat}} \pm 0.05_{\mathrm{syst}} \pm 0.07_{\mathrm{ext}})\%$, which is larger than theoretical calculations by $1 - 2$ orders of magnitude. Here the third (external) systematic is from $\mathcal{B}(Λ_{c}^{+} \to Λπ^+ η)$. Finally, we precisely obtain the absolute branching fraction $\mathcal{B}(Λ_{c}^{+} \to Λπ^+ η) = (1.94 \pm 0.07_{\mathrm{stat}} \pm 0.11_{\mathrm{syst}})\%$.

Remote-controlled humanoid robots can revolutionize manufacturing, construction, and healthcare industries by performing complex or dangerous manual tasks traditionally done by humans. We refer to these behaviors as Dynamic Loco-Manipulation (DLM). To successfully complete these tasks, humans control the position of their bodies and contact forces at their hands. To enable similar whole-body control in humanoids, we introduce loco-manipulation retargeting strategies with switched position and force control modes in a bilateral teleoperation framework. Our proposed locomotion mappings use the pitch and yaw of the operator's torso to control robot position or acceleration. The manipulation retargeting maps the operator's arm movements to the robot's arms for joint-position or impedance control of the end-effector. A Human-Machine Interface captures the teleoperator's motion and provides haptic feedback to their torso, enhancing their awareness of the robot's interactions with the environment. In this paper, we demonstrate two forms of DLM. First, we show the robot slotting heavy boxes (5-10.5 kg), weighing up to 83% of the robot's weight, into desired positions. Second, we show human-robot collaboration for carrying an object, where the robot and teleoperator take on leader and follower roles.

Orthodontic treatment usually requires regular face-to-face examinations to monitor dental conditions of the patients. When in-person diagnosis is not feasible, an alternative is to utilize five intra-oral photographs for remote dental monitoring. However, it lacks of 3D information, and how to reconstruct 3D dental models from such sparse view photographs is a challenging problem. In this study, we propose a 3D teeth reconstruction framework, named TeethDreamer, aiming to restore the shape and position of the upper and lower teeth. Given five intra-oral photographs, our approach first leverages a large diffusion model's prior knowledge to generate novel multi-view images with known poses to address sparse inputs and then reconstructs high-quality 3D teeth models by neural surface reconstruction. To ensure the 3D consistency across generated views, we integrate a 3D-aware feature attention mechanism in the reverse diffusion process. Moreover, a geometry-aware normal loss is incorporated into the teeth reconstruction process to enhance geometry accuracy. Extensive experiments demonstrate the superiority of our method over current state-of-the-arts, giving the potential to monitor orthodontic treatment remotely. However, these systems often falter with complex reasoning and consistency across diverse queries. In this work, we present Think-on-Graph 2.0, an enhanced RAG framework that aligns questions with the knowledge graph and uses it as a navigational tool, which deepens and refines the RAG paradigm for information collection and integration. The KG-guided navigation fosters deep and long-range associations to uphold logical consistency and optimize the scope of retrieval for precision and interoperability. In conjunction, factual consistency can be better ensured through semantic similarity guided by precise directives. ToG${2.0}$ not only improves the accuracy and reliability of LLMs' responses but also demonstrates the potential of hybrid structured knowledge systems to significantly advance LLM reasoning, aligning it closer to human-like performance. Assessing the effectiveness of large language models (LLMs) presents substantial challenges. The method of conducting human-annotated battles in an online Chatbot Arena is a highly effective evaluative technique. However, this approach is limited by the costs and time required for human annotation. In this paper, we introduce Arena Learning, an innovative offline strategy designed to simulate these arena battles using AI-driven annotations to evaluate battle outcomes, thus facilitating the continuous improvement of the target model through both supervised fine-tuning and reinforcement learning. Arena Learning comprises two key elements. First, it ensures precise evaluations and maintains consistency between offline simulations and online competitions via WizardArena, a pipeline developed to accurately predict the Elo rankings of various models using a meticulously designed offline test set. Our results demonstrate that WizardArena's predictions closely align with those from the online Arena. Second, it involves the continuous improvement of training data based on the battle results and the refined model. We establish a data flywheel to iteratively update the training data by highlighting the weaknesses of the target model based on its battle results, enabling it to learn from the strengths of multiple different models. We apply Arena Learning to train our target model, WizardLM-$β$, and demonstrate significant performance enhancements across various metrics. This fully automated training and evaluation pipeline sets the stage for continuous advancements in various LLMs via post-training. Notably, Arena Learning plays a pivotal role in the success of WizardLM-2, and this paper serves both as an exploration of its efficacy and a foundational study for future discussions related to WizardLM-2 and its derivatives.

Existing methods for graph out-of-distribution (OOD) generalization primarily rely on empirical studies on synthetic datasets. Such approaches tend to overemphasize the causal relationships between invariant sub-graphs and labels, thereby neglecting the non-negligible role of environment in real-world scenarios. In contrast to previous studies that impose rigid independence assumptions on environments and invariant sub-graphs, this paper presents the theorems of environment-label dependency and mutable rationale invariance, where the former characterizes the usefulness of environments in determining graph labels while the latter refers to the mutable importance of graph rationales. Based on analytic investigations, a novel variational inference based method named ``Probability Dependency on Environments and Rationales for OOD Graphs on Real-world Data'' (DEROG) is introduced. To alleviate the adverse effect of unknown prior knowledge on environments and rationales, DEROG utilizes generalized Bayesian inference. Further, DEROG employs an EM-based algorithm for optimization. Finally, extensive experiments on real-world datasets under different distribution shifts are conducted to show the superiority of DEROG. Microservice architecture has transformed traditional monolithic applications into lightweight components. Scaling these lightweight microservices is more efficient than scaling servers. However, scaling microservices still faces the challenges resulted from the unexpected spikes or bursts of requests, which are difficult to detect and can degrade performance instantaneously. To address this challenge and ensure the performance of microservice-based applications, we propose a status-aware and elastic scaling framework called StatuScale, which is based on load status detector that can select appropriate elastic scaling strategies for differentiated resource scheduling in vertical scaling. Additionally, StatuScale employs a horizontal scaling controller that utilizes comprehensive evaluation and resource reduction to manage the number of replicas for each microservice. We also present a novel metric named correlation factor to evaluate the resource usage efficiency. Finally, we use Kubernetes, an open-source container orchestration and management platform, and realistic traces from Alibaba to validate our approach. The experimental results have demonstrated that the proposed framework can reduce the average response time in the Sock-Shop application by 8.59% to 12.34%, and in the Hotel-Reservation application by 7.30% to 11.97%, decrease service level objective violations, and offer better performance in resource usage compared to baselines.

Microservices have transformed monolithic applications into lightweight, self-contained, and isolated application components, establishing themselves as a dominant paradigm for application development and deployment in public clouds such as Google and Alibaba. Autoscaling emerges as an efficient strategy for managing resources allocated to microservices' replicas. However, the dynamic and intricate dependencies within microservice chains present challenges to the effective management of scaled microservices. Additionally, the centralized autoscaling approach can encounter scalability issues, especially in the management of large-scale microservice-based clusters. To address these challenges and enhance scalability, we propose an innovative distributed resource provisioning approach for microservices based on the Twin Delayed Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient algorithm. This approach enables effective autoscaling decisions and decentralizes responsibilities from a central node to distributed nodes. Comparative results with state-of-the-art approaches, obtained from a realistic testbed and traces, indicate that our approach reduces the average response time by 15% and the number of failed requests by 24%, validating improved scalability as the number of requests increases.

In this paper, we propose an interoceptive-only odometry system for ground robots with neural network processing and soft constraints based on the assumption of a globally continuous ground manifold. Exteroceptive sensors such as cameras, GPS and LiDAR may encounter difficulties in scenarios with poor illumination, indoor environments, dusty areas and straight tunnels. Therefore, improving the pose estimation accuracy only using interoceptive sensors is important to enhance the reliability of navigation system even in degrading scenarios mentioned above. However, interoceptive sensors like IMU and wheel encoders suffer from large drift due to noisy measurements. To overcome these challenges, the proposed system trains deep neural networks to correct the measurements from IMU and wheel encoders, while considering their uncertainty. Moreover, because ground robots can only travel on the ground, we model the ground surface as a globally continuous manifold using a dual cubic B-spline manifold to further improve the estimation accuracy by this soft constraint. A novel space-based sliding-window filtering framework is proposed to fully exploit the $C^2$ continuity of ground manifold soft constraints and fuse all the information from raw measurements and neural networks in a yaw-independent attitude convention. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our proposed approach can outperform state-of-the-art learning-based interoceptive-only odometry methods.

By increasing model parameters but activating them sparsely when performing a task, the use of Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) architecture significantly improves the performance of Large Language Models (LLMs) without increasing the inference cost. However, the memory consumption due to the growing number of experts presents a challenge to the deployment of these models in many real world settings. Our empirical study reveals that some experts encode redundant knowledge during pre-training. We thus propose a method of grouping and pruning similar experts to improve model's parameter efficiency. We validate the effectiveness of our method by pruning two state-of-the-art MoE models, Mixtral-8x7B and Mixtral-8x22B. Evaluation shows that our method outperforms other model pruning methods on a range of natural language tasks. To facilitate future research, we will release our code and the pruned MoE models.

Bird's-eye-view (BEV) representation is crucial for the perception function in autonomous driving tasks. It is difficult to balance the accuracy, efficiency and range of BEV representation. The existing works are restricted to a limited perception range within 50 meters. Extending the BEV representation range can greatly benefit downstream tasks such as topology reasoning, scene understanding, and planning by offering more comprehensive information and reaction time. The Standard-Definition (SD) navigation maps can provide a lightweight representation of road structure topology, characterized by ease of acquisition and low maintenance costs. An intuitive idea is to combine the close-range visual information from onboard cameras with the beyond line-of-sight (BLOS) environmental priors from SD maps to realize expanded perceptual capabilities. In this paper, we propose BLOS-BEV, a novel BEV segmentation model that incorporates SD maps for accurate beyond line-of-sight perception, up to 200m. Our approach is applicable to common BEV architectures and can achieve excellent results by incorporating information derived from SD maps. We explore various feature fusion schemes to effectively integrate the visual BEV representations and semantic features from the SD map, aiming to leverage the complementary information from both sources optimally. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our approach achieves state-of-the-art performance in BEV segmentation on nuScenes and Argoverse benchmark. Through multi-modal inputs, BEV segmentation is significantly enhanced at close ranges below 50m, while also demonstrating superior performance in long-range scenarios, surpassing other methods by over 20% mIoU at distances ranging from 50-200m.

We present a novel pipeline for learning high-quality triangular human avatars from multi-view videos. Recent methods for avatar learning are typically based on neural radiance fields (NeRF), which is not compatible with traditional graphics pipeline and poses great challenges for operations like editing or synthesizing under different environments. To overcome these limitations, our method represents the avatar with an explicit triangular mesh extracted from an implicit SDF field, complemented by an implicit material field conditioned on given poses. Leveraging this triangular avatar representation, we incorporate physics-based rendering to accurately decompose geometry and texture. To enhance both the geometric and appearance details, we further employ a 2D UNet as the network backbone and introduce pseudo normal ground-truth as additional supervision. Experiments show that our method can learn triangular avatars with high-quality geometry reconstruction and plausible material decomposition, inherently supporting editing, manipulation or relighting operations.

The absolute branching fractions of $D_{s1}(2536)^- \rightarrow \bar{D}^{*0}K^-$ and $D_{s2}^*(2573)^- \rightarrow \bar{D}^0K^-$ are measured for the first time to be $(35.9\pm 4.8\pm 3.5)\%$ and $(37.4\pm 3.1\pm 4.6)\%$, respectively. The measurements are in tension with predictions based on the assumption that the $D_{s1}(2536)$ and $D_{s2}^*(2573)$ are dominated by a bare $c\bar{s}$ component. The $e^+e^-\rightarrow D_s^+D_{s1}(2536)^-$ and $e^+e^-\rightarrow D_s^+D^*_{s2}(2573)^-$ cross sections are measured, and a resonant structure at around 4.6~GeV with a width of 50~MeV is observed for the first time with a statistical significance of $15σ$ in the $e^+e^-\rightarrow D_s^+D^*_{s2}(2573)^-$ process. It could be the $Y(4626)$ found by the Belle collaboration in the $D_s^+D_{s1}(2536)^{-}$ final state, since they have similar masses and widths. There is also evidence for a structure at around 4.75~GeV in both processes.

Dance, as an art form, fundamentally hinges on the precise synchronization with musical beats. However, achieving aesthetically pleasing dance sequences from music is challenging, with existing methods often falling short in controllability and beat alignment. To address these shortcomings, this paper introduces Beat-It, a novel framework for beat-specific, key pose-guided dance generation. Unlike prior approaches, Beat-It uniquely integrates explicit beat awareness and key pose guidance, effectively resolving two main issues: the misalignment of generated dance motions with musical beats, and the inability to map key poses to specific beats, critical for practical choreography. Our approach disentangles beat conditions from music using a nearest beat distance representation and employs a hierarchical multi-condition fusion mechanism. This mechanism seamlessly integrates key poses, beats, and music features, mitigating condition conflicts and offering rich, multi-conditioned guidance for dance generation. Additionally, a specially designed beat alignment loss ensures the generated dance movements remain in sync with the designated beats. Extensive experiments confirm Beat-It's superiority over existing state-of-the-art methods in terms of beat alignment and motion controllability.

Accurately and safely predicting the trajectories of surrounding vehicles is essential for fully realizing autonomous driving (AD). This paper presents the Human-Like Trajectory Prediction model (HLTP++), which emulates human cognitive processes to improve trajectory prediction in AD. HLTP++ incorporates a novel teacher-student knowledge distillation framework. The "teacher" model equipped with an adaptive visual sector, mimics the dynamic allocation of attention human drivers exhibit based on factors like spatial orientation, proximity, and driving speed. On the other hand, the "student" model focuses on real-time interaction and human decision-making, drawing parallels to the human memory storage mechanism. Furthermore, we improve the model's efficiency by introducing a new Fourier Adaptive Spike Neural Network (FA-SNN), allowing for faster and more precise predictions with fewer parameters. Evaluated using the NGSIM, HighD, and MoCAD benchmarks, HLTP++ demonstrates superior performance compared to existing models, which reduces the predicted trajectory error with over 11% on the NGSIM dataset and 25% on the HighD datasets. Moreover, HLTP++ demonstrates strong adaptability in challenging environments with incomplete input data. This marks a significant stride in the journey towards fully AD systems.

Existing video multi-modal sentiment analysis mainly focuses on the sentiment expression of people within the video, yet often neglects the induced sentiment of viewers while watching the videos. Induced sentiment of viewers is essential for inferring the public response to videos, has broad application in analyzing public societal sentiment, effectiveness of advertising and other areas. The micro videos and the related comments provide a rich application scenario for viewers induced sentiment analysis. In light of this, we introduces a novel research task, Multi-modal Sentiment Analysis for Comment Response of Video Induced(MSA-CRVI), aims to inferring opinions and emotions according to the comments response to micro video. Meanwhile, we manually annotate a dataset named Comment Sentiment toward to Micro Video (CSMV) to support this research. It is the largest video multi-modal sentiment dataset in terms of scale and video duration to our knowledge, containing 107,267 comments and 8,210 micro videos with a video duration of 68.83 hours. To infer the induced sentiment of comment should leverage the video content, so we propose the Video Content-aware Comment Sentiment Analysis (VC-CSA) method as baseline to address the challenges inherent in this new task. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method is showing significant improvements over other established baselines.

While existing semi-supervised object detection (SSOD) methods perform well in general scenes, they encounter challenges in handling oriented objects in aerial images. We experimentally find three gaps between general and oriented object detection in semi-supervised learning: 1) Sampling inconsistency: the common center sampling is not suitable for oriented objects with larger aspect ratios when selecting positive labels from labeled data. 2) Assignment inconsistency: balancing the precision and localization quality of oriented pseudo-boxes poses greater challenges which introduces more noise when selecting positive labels from unlabeled data. 3) Confidence inconsistency: there exists more mismatch between the predicted classification and localization qualities when considering oriented objects, affecting the selection of pseudo-labels. Therefore, we propose a Multi-clue Consistency Learning (MCL) framework to bridge gaps between general and oriented objects in semi-supervised detection. Specifically, considering various shapes of rotated objects, the Gaussian Center Assignment is specially designed to select the pixel-level positive labels from labeled data. We then introduce the Scale-aware Label Assignment to select pixel-level pseudo-labels instead of unreliable pseudo-boxes, which is a divide-and-rule strategy suited for objects with various scales. The Consistent Confidence Soft Label is adopted to further boost the detector by maintaining the alignment of the predicted results. Comprehensive experiments on DOTA-v1.5 and DOTA-v1.0 benchmarks demonstrate that our proposed MCL can achieve state-of-the-art performance in the semi-supervised oriented object detection task.

Travel time estimation is a crucial application in navigation apps and web mapping services. Current deterministic and probabilistic methods primarily focus on modeling individual trips, assuming independence among trips. However, in real-world scenarios, we often observe strong inter-trip correlations due to factors such as weather conditions, traffic management, and road works. In this paper, we propose to model trip-level link travel time using a Gaussian hierarchical model, which can characterize both inter-trip and intra-trip correlations. The joint distribution of travel time of multiple trips becomes a multivariate Gaussian parameterized by learnable link representations. To effectively use the sparse GPS trajectories, we also propose a data augmentation method based on trip sub-sampling, which allows for fine-grained gradient backpropagation in learning link representations. During inference, we estimate the probability distribution of the travel time of a queried trip conditional on the completed trips that are spatiotemporally adjacent. We refer to the overall framework as ProbTTE. We evaluate ProbTTE on two real-world GPS trajectory datasets, and the results demonstrate its superior performance compared to state-of-the-art deterministic and probabilistic baselines. Additionally, we find that the learned link representations align well with the physical geometry of the network, making them suitable as input for other applications.

This work presents a novel module, namely multi-branch concat (MBC), to process the input tensor and obtain the multi-scale feature map. The proposed MBC module brings new degrees of freedom (DoF) for the design of attention networks by allowing the type of transformation operators and the number of branches to be flexibly adjusted. Two important transformation operators, multiplex and split, are considered in this work, both of which can represent multi-scale features at a more granular level and increase the range of receptive fields. By integrating the MBC and attention module, a multi-branch attention (MBA) module is consequently developed to capture the channel-wise interaction of feature maps for establishing the long-range channel dependency. By substituting the 3x3 convolutions in the bottleneck blocks of the ResNet with the proposed MBA, a novel block namely efficient multi-branch attention (EMBA) is obtained, which can be easily plugged into the state-of-the-art backbone CNN models. Furthermore, a new backbone network called EMBANet is established by stacking the EMBA blocks. The proposed EMBANet is extensively evaluated on representative computer vision tasks including: classification, detection, and segmentation. And it demonstrates consistently superior performance over the popular backbones.

Testing a program's capability to effectively handling errors is a significant challenge, given that program errors are relatively uncommon. To solve this, Software Fault Injection (SFI)-based fuzzing integrates SFI and traditional fuzzing, injecting and triggering errors for testing (error handling) code. However, we observe that current SFI-based fuzzing approaches have overlooked the correlation between paths housing error points. In fact, the execution paths of error points often share common paths. Nonetheless, Fuzzers usually generate test cases repeatedly to test error points on commonly traversed paths. This practice can compromise the efficiency of the fuzzer(s). Thus, this paper introduces HuntFUZZ, a novel SFI-based fuzzing framework that addresses the issue of redundant testing of error points with correlated paths. Specifically, HuntFUZZ clusters these correlated error points and utilizes concolic execution to compute constraints only for common paths within each cluster. By doing so, we provide the fuzzer with efficient test cases to explore related error points with minimal redundancy. We evaluate HuntFUZZ on a diverse set of 42 applications, and HuntFUZZ successfully reveals 162 known bugs, with 62 of them being related to error handling. Additionally, due to its efficient error point detection method, HuntFUZZ discovers 7 unique zero-day bugs, which are all missed by existing fuzzers. Furthermore, we compare HuntFUZZ with 4 existing fuzzing approaches, including AFL, AFL++, AFLGo, and EH-FUZZ. Our evaluation confirms that HuntFUZZ can cover a broader range of error points, and it exhibits better performance in terms of bug finding speed.

We propose Waymo Open Motion Dataset-Reasoning (WOMD-Reasoning), a language annotation dataset built on WOMD, with a focus on describing and reasoning interactions and intentions in driving scenarios. Previous language datasets primarily captured interactions caused by close distances. However, interactions induced by traffic rules and human intentions, which can occur over long distances, are yet sufficiently covered, despite being very common and more challenging for prediction or planning models to understand. Therefore, our WOMD-Reasoning focuses extensively on these interactions, providing a total of 409k Q&As for varying types of interactions. Additionally, WOMD-Reasoning presents by far the largest Q&A dataset on real-world driving scenarios, with around 3 million Q&As covering various topics of autonomous driving from map descriptions, motion status descriptions, to narratives and analyses of agents' interactions, behaviors, and intentions. This extensive textual information enables fine-tuning driving-related Large Language Models (LLMs) for a wide range of applications like scene description, prediction, planning, etc. By incorporating interaction and intention language from WOMD-Reasoning, we see significant enhancements in the performance of the state-of-the-art trajectory prediction model, Multipath++, with improvements of 10.14% in $MR_6$ and 6.90% in $minFDE_6$, proving the effectiveness of WOMD-Reasoning. We hope WOMD-Reasoning would empower LLMs in driving to offer better interaction understanding and behavioral reasoning. The dataset is available on https://waymo.com/open/download .

Instruction-following is particularly crucial for large language models (LLMs) to support diverse user requests. While existing work has made progress in aligning LLMs with human preferences, evaluating their capabilities on instruction following remains a challenge due to complexity and diversity of real-world user instructions. While existing evaluation methods focus on general skills, they suffer from two main shortcomings, i.e., lack of fine-grained task-level evaluation and reliance on singular instruction expression. To address these problems, this paper introduces DINGO, a fine-grained and diverse instruction-following evaluation dataset that has two main advantages: (1) DINGO is based on a manual annotated, fine-grained and multi-level category tree with 130 nodes derived from real-world user requests; (2) DINGO includes diverse instructions, generated by both GPT-4 and human experts. Through extensive experiments, we demonstrate that DINGO can not only provide more challenging and comprehensive evaluation for LLMs, but also provide task-level fine-grained directions to further improve LLMs.
