This work describes a silicon tracker system developed for experiments with proton-rich radioactive ion beams at the SAMURAI superconducting spectrometer of RIBF at RIKEN. The system is designed for accurate angular reconstruction and atomic number identification of relativistic heavy ions and protons which are simultaneously produced in reactions motivated by studies of proton capture reactions of interest for nuclear astrophysics. The technical characteristics of the tracking array are described in detail as are its performance in two pilot experiments. The physics justification for such a system is also presented.

Detecting gravitational waves from a nearby core-collapse supernova would place meaningful constraints on the supernova engine and nuclear equation of state. Here we use Convolutional Neural Network models to identify the core rotational rates, rotation length scales, and the nuclear equation of state (EoS), using the 1824 waveforms from Richers et al. (2017) for a 12 solar mass progenitor. High prediction accuracy for the classifications of the rotation length scales ($93\%$) and the rotational rates ($95\%$) can be achieved using the gravitational wave signals from -10 ms to 6 ms core bounce. By including additional 48 ms signals during the prompt convection phase, we could achieve $96\%$ accuracy on the classification of four major EoS groups. Combining three models above, we could correctly predict the core rotational rates, rotation length scales, and the EoS at the same time with more than $85\%$ accuracy. Finally, applying a transfer learning method for additional 74 waveforms from FLASH simulations (Pan et al. 2018), we show that our model using Richers' waveforms could successfully predict the rotational rates from Pan's waveforms even for a continuous value with a mean absolute errors of 0.32 rad s$^{-1}$ only. These results demonstrate a much broader parameter regimes our model can be applied for the identification of core-collapse supernova events through GW signals.

In the manuscript, we discuss properties of the SDSS J1042-0018 which is a broad line AGN but mis-classified as a HII galaxy in the BPT diagram (SDSS J1042-0018 called as a mis-classified broad line AGN). The emission lines around H$α$ and around H$β$ are well described by different model functions, considering broad Balmer lines to be described by Gaussian or Lorentz functions. Different model functions lead to different determined narrow emission line fluxes, but the different narrow emission line flux ratios lead the SDSS J1042-0018 as a HII galaxy in the BPT diagram. In order to explain the unique properties of the mis-classified broad line AGN SDSS J1042-0018, two methods are proposed, the starforming contributions and the compressed NLRs with high electron densities near to critical densities of forbidden emission lines. Fortunately, the strong starforming contributions can be preferred in the SDSS J1042-0018. The mis-classified broad line AGN SDSS J1042-0018, well explained by starforming contributions, could provide further clues on the applications of BPT diagrams to the normal broad line AGN.

We report the first (in)elastic scattering measurement of $^{25}\mathrm{Al}+p$ with the capability to select and measure in a broad energy range the proton resonances in $^{26}$Si contributing to the $^{22}$Mg$(α,p)$ reaction at type I x-ray burst energies. We measured spin-parities of four resonances above the $α$ threshold of $^{26}$Si that are found to strongly impact the $^{22}$Mg$(α,p)$ rate. The new rate advances a state-of-the-art model to remarkably reproduce light curves of the GS 1826$-$24 clocked burster with mean deviation $<9$ % and permits us to discover a strong correlation between the He abundance in the accreting envelope of photospheric radius expansion burster and the dominance of $^{22}$Mg$(α,p)$ branch.

The astrophysical $S$-factor for the radiative proton capture reaction on $^7$Be ($S_{17}$) at low energies is affected by the $s$-wave scattering lengths. We report the measurement of elastic and inelastic scattering cross sections for the $^7$Be+p system in the center-of-mass energy range 0.474 - 2.740 MeV and center-of-mass angular range of 70$^\circ$- 150$^\circ$. A radioactive $^7$Be beam produced at Oak Ridge National Laboratory's (ORNL) Holifield Radioactive Ion Beam Facility was accelerated and bombarded a thin polypropylene (CH$_{2}$)$_\text n$ target. Scattered ions were detected in the segmented Silicon Detector Array. Using an $\textit{R}$-matrix analysis of ORNL and Louvain-la-Neuve cross section data, the $s$-wave scattering lengths for channel spins 1 and 2 were determined to be 17.34$^{+1.11}_{-1.33}$ and -3.18$^{+0.55}_{-0.50}$ fm, respectively. The uncertainty in the $s$-wave scattering lengths reported in this work is smaller by a factor of 5-8 compared to the previous measurement, which may reduce the overall uncertainty in $S_{17}$ at zero energy. The level structure of $^8$B is discussed based upon the results from this work. Evidence for the existence of 0$^+$ and 2$^+$ levels in $^8$B at 1.9 and 2.21 MeV, respectively, is observed.

Furthermore, we obtain the histograms of key parameters. Our main results are as the follows:(i) We found that the FSRQs are roughly separated from BL Lacs by the Ledlow-Owen FRI/FRII dividing line in the $\rm{\log{P_{jet}}-\log{M}}$ plane. This result supports the unification model that BL Lacs unify with FRI radio galaxies and FSRQs unify with FRII radio galaxies.(ii)We found that the coefficient of the best-fit linear regression equation of $\rm{\log{L_{BLR}}-\log{P_{jet}}}$ relation is very close to 1 for our sample. The correlation between broad line luminosity and jet power is significant which supports that jet power has a close link with accretion.

A sample of 111 Fermi blazars each with a well-established radio core luminosity, broad-line luminosity, bolometric luminosity and black hole mass has been compiled from the literatures. We present a significant correlation between radio core and broad-line emission luminosities that supports a close link between accretion processes and relativistic jets. Analysis reveals a relationship of $\rm{LogL_{BLR}\sim(0.81\pm0.06)LogL_{R}^{C}}$ which is consistant with theoretical predicted coefficient and supports that blazar jets are powered by energy extraction from a rapidly spinning Kerr black hole through the magnetic field provided by the accretion disk. Through studying the correlation between the intrinsic bolometric luminosity and the black hole mass, we find a relationship of $\rm{{Log}\frac{L_{in}}{L_{\odot}}=(0.95\pm0.26){Log}\frac{M}{M_{\odot}}+(3.53\pm2.24)}$ which supports mass-luminosity relation for Fermi blazars derived in this work is a powerlaw relation similar to that for main-sequence stars. Finally, evolutionary sequence of blazars is discussed.

Experiments at electron-positron colliders can search for dark matter particle pair-production in association with a photon. We estimate the sensitivity of this search at the proposed International Linear Collider (ILC), under a variety of run scenarios. We employ the effective operator formalism to provide a quasi-model-independent theoretical description of the signal, and present the reach of the ILC in terms of the scale Λsuppressing the dark matter-electron coupling operator. We find that at the 250 GeV center-of-mass energy, the ILC can probe Λup to 1-1.2 TeV, a factor of 2.5-3 above the best current bounds from LEP-2. With 1 TeV energy and polarized beams, the reach can be extended to 3-4 TeV. The ILC can discover this signature even if annihilation to electrons provides only a small fraction of the total dark matter annihilation rate in the early universe. We also argue that large regions of parameter space allowed by current LHC and direct detection bounds will be accessible at the ILC.
