Abstract:
We have measured cross sections for forward neutron production from a variety of targets using proton beams from the Fermilab Main Injector. Measurements were performed for proton beam momenta of 58 GeV/c, 84 GeV/c, and 120 GeV/c. The cross section dependence on the atomic weight (A) of the targets was found to vary as $A^(alpha)$ where $α$ is $0.46\pm0.06$ for a beam momentum of 58 GeV/c and 0.54…

The cross section dependence on the atomic weight (A) of the targets was found to vary as $A^(alpha)$ where $α$ is $0.46\pm0.06$ for a beam momentum of 58 GeV/c and 0.54$\pm$0.05 for 120 GeV/c. The cross sections show reasonable agreement with FLUKA and DPMJET Monte Carlos. Comparisons have also been made with the LAQGSM Monte Carlo.

Abstract:
The Bc meson is composed of two heavy quarks of distinct flavor. Measurements of its lifetime and production properties have been made based on semileptonic Bc to J/psi+l+X decays using data collected with the CDF II detector corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1 fb-1. The Bc average lifetime ctau is measured to be 142.5+15.8-14.8(stat) 5.5(syst) mum. The measurements of the ratio of th…

The measurements of the ratio of the production cross section times branching ratio of Bc to J/psi+mu+nu relative to B+ to J/psi+K were done for two pT(B) thresholds: for pT(B) greater 4 GeV/c as 0.295+/-0.040(stat)+0.033-0.026(syst.)0.036(pT spectrum) and for pT(B) greater 6 GeV/c as
0.227+/-0.033(stat)+0.024-0.017(syst.)+/-0.014(pT spectrum).

The purpose of the MIPP experiment is to study the inclusive production of photons, pions, kaons and nucleons in pi, K and p interactions on various targets using beams from the Main Injector at Fermilab. The function of the calorimeters is to measure the production of forward-going neutrons and photons. The electromagnetic calorimeter consist of 10 lead plates interspersed with proportional chambers. It was followed by the hadron calorimeter with 64 steel plates interspersed with scintillator. The data presented were collected with a variety of targets and beam momenta from 5 GeV/c to 120 GeV/c. The energy calibration of both calorimeters with electrons, pions, kaons, and protons is discussed. The resolution for electrons was found to be 0.27/sqrt(E), and for hadrons the resolution was 0.554/sqrt(E) with a constant term of 2.6%. The performance of the calorimeters was tested on a neutron sample.
