Large field inflation and string moduli stabilization
Abstract: Recent developments on large scale string moduli stabilization via non-geometric fluxes are reviewed. In the framework of type IIB orientifolds on fluxed Calabi-Yau manifolds, the existence of so-called flux-scaling minima provides a good starting point for the realization of parametrically controlled models of F-term axion monodromy inflation.

Towards Axionic Starobinsky-like Inflation in String Theory
Abstract: It is shown that Starobinsky-like potentials can be realized in non-geometric flux compactifications of string theory, where the inflaton involves an axion whose shift symmetry can protect UV-corrections to the scalar potential. For that purpose we evaluate the backreacted, uplifted F-term axion-monodromy potential, which interpolates between a quadratic and a Starobinsky-like form. Limitations du… ▽ More

Modification of the $ω$-Meson Lifetime in Nuclear Matter
Abstract: The photo production of $ω$ mesons on the nuclei C, Ca, Nb and Pb has been measured using the Crystal Barrel/TAPS detector at the ELSA tagged photon facility in Bonn. The dependence of the $ω$ meson cross section on the nuclear mass number has been compared with three different types of models, a Glauber analysis, a BUU analysis of the Giessen theory group and a calculation by the Valencia theor… ▽ More

N* and Delta* decays into N pi0 pi0
Abstract: Decays of baryon resonances in the second and the third resonance region into N pi0 pi0 are studied by photoproduction of two neutral pions off protons. Partial decay widths of N* and Delta* resonances decaying into Delta(1232) pi, N(ππ)_{S}, N(1440)P_{11} pi, and N(1520)D_{13} pi are determined in a partial wave analysis of this data, and data from other reactions. Several partial decay widths… ▽ More

Observation of a unitary cusp in the threshold γp -> π^{0}p reaction
Abstract: A rigorous multipole analysis of the recent γp -> π^{0}p cross section measurement is presented. The data were taken using the photon spectrometer TAPS at the tagged photon beam of the Mainz microtron. The s and p wave multipoles were extracted using minimal model assumptions. The predicted unitary cusp for the s wave multipole E_{0+} due to the two step γp -> π^{+}n -> π^{0}p reaction was obser… ▽ More
