We study the large scale fluctuations of the KPZ equation in dimensions $d \geq 3$ driven by Gaussian noise that is white in time Gaussian but features non-integrable spatial correlation with decay rate $κ\in (2, d)$ and a suitable limiting profile. We show that its scaling limit is described by the corresponding additive stochastic heat equation. In contrast to the case of compactly supported covariance, the noise in the stochastic heat equation retains spatial correlation with covariance $|x|^{-κ}$. Surprisingly, the noise driving the limiting equation turns out to be the scaling limit of the noise driving the KPZ equation so that, under a suitable coupling, one has convergence in probability, unlike in the case of integrable correlations where fluctuations are enhanced in the limit and convergence is necessarily weak.

Here, the $ξ$-field is $\mathbb{R}$-valued, acting as a dynamic random environment, and $Δ$ represents the discrete Laplacian. We focus on the case where $ξ$ is given by a rescaled symmetric simple exclusion process which converges to an Ornstein--Uhlenbeck process. By scaling the Laplacian diffusively and considering the equation on a torus, we demonstrate that in dimension $d=2$, when a suitably renormalized version of the above equation is considered, the sequence of solutions converges in law. This resolves an open problem from~\cite{EH23}, where a similar result was shown in the three-dimensional case. The novel contribution in the present work is the establishment of a gradient bound on the transition probability of a fixed but arbitrary number of labelled exclusion particles.

When the noise is regularised at scale $δ\ll 1$ we show that any joint limit $\varepsilon,δ\to 0$ recovers the classical dynamical $φ^4_2$ model. In certain regimes or if the regularisation is chosen in a specific way adapted to the problem, we show that the counterterms can be chosen as explicit local functions of $A$.

We develop a generalisation of the original theory of regularity structures, [Hai14], which is able to treat SPDEs on manifolds with values in vector bundles. Assume $M$ is a Riemannian manifold and $E\to M$ and $F^i\to M$ are vector bundles (with a metric and connection), this theory allows to solve subcritical equations of the form $$ \partial_t u + \mathcal{L}u = \sum_{i=0}^m G_i(u, \nabla u,\ldots, \nabla^n u)ξ_i\ , $$ where $u$ is a (generalised) section of $E$, $\mathcal{L}$ is a uniformly elliptic operator on $E$ of order strictly greater than $n$, the $ξ_i$ are $F^i$-valued random distributions (e.g. $F^i$-valued white noises), and the $G_i:E\times TM^*\otimes E \times\ldots\times (TM^*)^{\otimes n} \otimes E \to L(F^i ,E)$ are local functions.
We apply our framework to three example equations which illustrate that when $\mathcal{L}$ is a Laplacian it is possible in most cases to renormalise such equations by adding spatially homogeneous counterterms and we discuss in which cases more sophisticated renormalisation procedures (involving the curvature of the underlying manifold) are required.

We provide conditions for existence, as well as uniqueness and spectral gaps (if $ \mathbf{a} > d/2$) of invariant measures for $ π$ in the projective space. Our proof relies on the introduction of a novel Lyapunov functional for $π_{t}$, based on the study of dynamics of the ``energy median'': the energy level $M$ at which projections of $u$ onto frequencies with energies less or more than $M$ have about equal $L^2$ norm. This technique is applied to obtain -- in an infinite-dimensional setting without order preservation -- lower bounds on top Lyapunov exponents of the equation, and their uniqueness via Furstenberg-Khasminskii formulas.

This equation is driven by multiplicative Gaussian noise, which is white in time and coloured in space with non-integrable spatial covariance that decays at the rate of $|x|^{-κ}$ at infinity, where $κ\in (2, d)$. Inspired by recent studies on SHE and KPZ equations driven by noise with compactly supported spatial correlation, we demonstrate that the correlations persist in the large-scale limit. The fluctuations of the diffusively scaled solution converge to the solution of a stochastic heat equation with additive noise whose correlation is the Riesz kernel of degree $-κ$. Moreover, the fluctuations converge as a distribution-valued process in the optimal Hölder topologies.

The proof relies on an energy estimate which in turn builds on a dynamic high-low frequency decomposition and tools from paracontrolled calculus. Our argument uses that the solution to the linear equation is a $ \log$-correlated field, yielding a double exponential growth bound on the solution. Notably, our method does not rely on any explicit knowledge of the invariant measure to the SPDE, hence the perturbation $ ζ$ is not restricted to the Cameron-Martin space of the noise, and the initial condition may be anticipative. Finally, we introduce a notion of weak solution that leads to well-posedness for all initial data $u_{0}$ in $ L^{2} $, the critical space of initial conditions.

We provide a relatively compact proof of the BPHZ theorem for regularity structures of decorated trees in the case where the driving noise satisfies a suitable spectral gap property, as in the Gaussian case. This is inspired by the recent work [LOTT21] in the multi-index setting, but our proof relies crucially on a novel version of the reconstruction theorem for a space of "pointed Besov modelled distributions". As a consequence, the analytical core of the proof is quite short and self-contained, which should make it easier to adapt the proof to different contexts (such as the setting of discrete models).

We consider the directed mean curvature flow on the plane in a weak Gaussian random environment. We prove that, when started from a sufficiently flat initial condition, a rescaled and recentred solution converges to the Cole-Hopf solution of the KPZ equation. This result follows from the analysis of a more general system of nonlinear SPDEs driven by inhomogeneous noises, using the theory of regularity structures. However, due to inhomogeneity of the noise, the "black box" result developed in the series of works [Hai14, BHZ19, CH16, BCCH21] cannot be applied directly and requires significant extension to infinite-dimensional regularity structures.
Analysis of this general system of SPDEs gives two more interesting results. First, we prove that the solution of the quenched KPZ equation with a very strong force also converges to the Cole-Hopf solution of the KPZ equation. Second, we show that a properly rescaled and renormalised quenched Edwards-Wilkinson model in any dimension converges to the stochastic heat equation.

We define a state space and a Markov process associated to the stochastic quantisation equation of Yang-Mills-Higgs (YMH) theories. The state space $\mathcal{S}$ is a nonlinear metric space of distributions, elements of which can be used as initial conditions for the (deterministic and stochastic) YMH flow with good continuity properties. Using gauge covariance of the deterministic YMH flow, we extend gauge equivalence $\sim$ to $\mathcal{S}$ and thus define a quotient space of "gauge orbits" $\mathfrak{O}$. We use the theory of regularity structures to prove local in time solutions to the renormalised stochastic YMH flow. Moreover, by leveraging symmetry arguments in the small noise limit, we show that there is a unique choice of renormalisation counterterms such that these solutions are gauge covariant in law. This allows us to define a canonical Markov process on $\mathfrak{O}$ (up to a potential finite time blow-up) associated to the stochastic YMH flow.

We study fast / slow systems driven by a fractional Brownian motion $B$ with Hurst parameter $H\in (\frac 13, 1]$. Surprisingly, the slow dynamic converges on suitable timescales to a limiting Markov process and we describe its generator. More precisely, if $Y^\varepsilon$ denotes a Markov process with sufficiently good mixing properties evolving on a fast timescale $\varepsilon \ll 1$, the solutions of the equation $$ dX^\varepsilon = \varepsilon^{\frac 12-H} F(X^\varepsilon,Y^\varepsilon)\,dB+F_0(X^\varepsilon,Y^\varepsilon)\,dt\; $$ converge to a regular diffusion without having to assume that $F$ averages to $0$, provided that $H< \frac 12$. For $H > \frac 12$, a similar result holds, but this time it does require $F$ to average to $0$. We also prove that the $n$-point motions converge to those of a Kunita type SDE.
One nice interpretation of this result is that it provides a continuous interpolation between the homogenisation theorem for random ODEs with rapidly oscillating right-hand sides ($H=1$) and the averaging of diffusion processes ($H= \frac 12$).

We focus on the case in which $ξ$ is given by a properly rescaled symmetric simple exclusion process under which it converges to an Ornstein--Uhlenbeck process. Scaling the Laplacian diffusively and restricting ourselves to a torus, we show that in dimension $d=3$ upon considering a suitably renormalised version of the above equation, the sequence of solutions converges in law.
As a by-product of our main result we obtain precise asymptotics for the survival probability of a simple random walk that is killed at a scale dependent rate when meeting an exclusion particle. Our proof relies on the discrete theory of regularity structures of \cite{ErhardHairerRegularity} and on novel sharp estimates of joint cumulants of arbitrary large order for the exclusion process. We think that the latter is of independent interest and may find applications elsewhere.

This gives a stronger topology than the classical one {(i.e.\ Hausdorff convergence on closed sets of paths)}, thus providing us with more continuous functions of the Brownian Web and ruling out a number of potential pathological behaviours. Along the way, we introduce a modification of the topology of spatial $\mathbb R$-trees in [T. Duquesne, J.-F. Le Gall, Probab. Theory Related Fields, '05] and [M. T. Barlow, D. A. Croydon, T. We introduce a $1+1$-dimensional temperature-dependent model such that the classical ballistic deposition model is recovered as its zero-temperature limit. Its $\infty$-temperature version, which we refer to as the $0$-Ballistic Deposition ($0$-BD) model, is a randomly evolving interface which, surprisingly enough, does {\it not} belong to either the Edwards--Wilkinson (EW) or the Kardar--Parisi--Zhang (KPZ) universality class. We show that $0$-BD has a scaling limit, a new stochastic process that we call {\it Brownian Castle} (BC) which, although it is "free", is distinct from EW and, like any other renormalisation fixed point, is scale-invariant, in this case under the $1:1:2$ scaling (as opposed to $1:2:3$ for KPZ and $1:2:4$ for EW). In the present article, we not only derive its finite-dimensional distributions, but also provide a "global" construction of the Brownian Castle which has the advantage of highlighting the fact that it admits backward characteristics given by the (backward) Brownian Web (see [Tóth B., Werner W., Probab. Theory Related Fields, '98] and [L. R. G. Fontes, M. Isopi, C. M. Newman, and K. Ravishankar, Ann. Probab., '04]). Among others, this characterisation enables us to establish fine pathwise properties of BC and to relate these to special points of the Web. We prove that the Brownian Castle is a (strong) Markov and Feller process on a suitable space of càdlàg functions and determine its long-time behaviour. At last, we give a glimpse to its universality by proving the convergence of $0$-BD to BC in a rather strong sense.

We define a natural state space and Markov process associated to the stochastic Yang-Mills heat flow in two dimensions. To accomplish this we first introduce a space of distributional connections for which holonomies along sufficiently regular curves (Wilson loop observables) and the action of an associated group of gauge transformations are both well-defined and satisfy good continuity properties. The desired state space is obtained as the corresponding space of orbits under this group action and is shown to be a Polish space when equipped with a natural Hausdorff metric. To construct the Markov process we show that the stochastic Yang-Mills heat flow takes values in our space of connections and use the "DeTurck trick" of introducing a time dependent gauge transformation to show invariance, in law, of the solution under gauge transformations. Our main tool for solving for the Yang-Mills heat flow is the theory of regularity structures and along the way we also develop a "basis-free" framework for applying the theory of regularity structures in the context of vector-valued noise - this provides a conceptual framework for interpreting several previous constructions and we expect this framework to be of independent interest.

We consider a semilinear parabolic partial differential equation in $\mathbf{R}_+\times [0,1]^d$, where $d=1, 2$ or $3$, with a highly oscillating random potential and either homogeneous Dirichlet or Neumann boundary condition. If the amplitude of the oscillations has the right size compared to its typical spatiotemporal scale, then the solution of our equation converges to the solution of a deterministic homogenised parabolic PDE, which is a form of law of large numbers. Our main interest is in the associated central limit theorem. Namely, we study the limit of a properly rescaled difference between the initial random solution and its LLN limit. In dimension $d=1$, that rescaled difference converges as one might expect to a centred Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process. However, in dimension $d=2$, the limit is a non-centred Gaussian process, while in dimension $d=3$, before taking the CLT limit, we need to subtract at an intermediate scale the solution of a deterministic parabolic PDE, subject (in the case of Neumann boundary condition) to a non-homogeneous Neumann boundary condition. Our proofs make use of the theory of regularity structures, in particular of the very recently developed methodology allowing to treat parabolic PDEs with boundary conditions within that theory.

We obtain a generalisation of the Stroock-Varadhan support theorem for a large class of systems of subcritical singular stochastic PDEs driven by a noise that is either white or approximately self-similar. The main problem that we face is the presence of renormalisation. In particular, it may happen in general that different renormalisation procedures yield solutions with different supports. One of the main steps in our construction is the identification of a subgroup $\mathcal{H}$ of the renormalisation group such that any renormalisation procedure determines a unique coset $g\circ\mathcal{H}$. The support of the solution then only depends on this coset and is obtained by taking the closure of all solutions obtained by replacing the driving noises by smooth functions in the equation that is renormalised by some element of $g\circ\mathcal{H}$.
One immediate corollary of our results is that the $Φ^4_3$ measure in finite volume has full support and that the associated Langevin dynamic is exponentially ergodic.

Abstract:
We consider slow / fast systems where the slow system is driven by fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter $H>{1\over 2}$. We show that unlike in the case $H={1\over 2}$, convergence to the averaged solution takes place in probability and the limiting process solves the 'naïvely' averaged equation. Our proof strongly relies on the recently obtained stochastic sewing lemma.

We consider a natural class of $\mathbf{R}^d$-valued one-dimensional stochastic PDEs driven by space-time white noise that is formally invariant under the action of the diffeomorphism group on $\mathbf{R}^d$. This class contains in particular the KPZ equation, the multiplicative stochastic heat equation, the additive stochastic heat equation, and rough Burgers-type equations. We exhibit a one-parameter family of solution theories with the following properties:
- For all SPDEs in our class for which a solution was previously available, every solution in our family coincides with the previously constructed solution, whether that was obtained using Itô calculus (additive and multiplicative stochastic heat equation), rough path theory (rough Burgers-type equations), or the Hopf-Cole transform (KPZ equation).
- Every solution theory is equivariant under the action of the diffeomorphism group, i.e. identities obtained by formal calculations treating the noise as a smooth function are valid.
- Every solution theory satisfies an analogue of Itô's isometry.
- The counterterms leading to our solution theories vanish at points where the equation agrees to leading order with the additive stochastic heat equation.
In particular, points 2 and 3 show that, surprisingly, our solution theories enjoy properties analogous to those holding for both the Stratonovich and Itô interpretations of SDEs simultaneously. For the natural noisy perturbation of the harmonic map flow with values in an arbitrary Riemannian manifold, we show that all these solution theories coincide. In particular, this allows us to conjecturally identify the process associated to the Markov extension of the Dirichlet form corresponding to the $L^2$-gradient flow for the Brownian loop measure.

We consider a broad class of semilinear SPDEs with multiplicative noise driven by a finite-dimensional Wiener process. We show that, provided that an infinite-dimensional analogue of Hörmander's bracket condition holds, the Malliavin matrix of the solution is an operator with dense range. In particular, we show that the laws of finite-dimensional projections of such solutions admit smooth densities with respect to Lebesgue measure. The main idea is to develop a robust pathwise solution theory for such SPDEs using rough paths theory, which then allows us to use a pathwise version of Norris's lemma to work directly on the Malliavin matrix, instead of the "reduced Malliavin matrix" which is not available in this context.
On our way of proving this result, we develop some new tools for the theory of rough paths like a rough Fubini theorem and a deterministic mild Itô formula for rough PDEs.

We prove that the dynamical sine-Gordon equation on the two dimensional torus introduced in [HS16] is locally well-posed for the entire subcritical regime. At first glance this equation is far out of the scope of the local existence theory available in the framework of regularity structures [Hai14, BHZ16, CH16, BCCH17] since it involves a non-polynomial nonlinearity and the solution is expected to be a distribution (without any additional small parameter as in [FG17, HX18]). In [HS16] this was overcome by a change of variable, but the new equation that arises has a multiplicative dependence on highly non-Gaussian noises which makes stochastic estimates highly non-trivial - as a result [HS16] was only able to treat part of the subcritical regime. Moreover, the cumulants of these noises fall out of the scope of the later work [CH16]. In this work we systematically leverage "charge" cancellations specific to this model and obtain stochastic estimates that allow us to cover the entire subcritical regime.

Our result is very similar to the one obtained by M. Cassandro, R. Marra and E. Presutti on $\mathbb{Z}^2$, but our strategy takes advantage of the dynamic, instead of correlation inequalities. In particular, our result covers the whole critical regime and does not require the large temperature / large mass / small coupling assumption present in earlier results.

The formalism recently introduced in arXiv:1610.08468 allows one to assign a regularity structure, as well as a corresponding "renormalisation group", to any subcritical system of semilinear stochastic PDEs. Under very mild additional assumptions, it was then shown in arXiv:1612.08138 that large classes of driving noises exhibiting the relevant small-scale behaviour can be lifted to such a regularity structure in a robust way, following a renormalisation procedure reminiscent of the BPHZ procedure arising in perturbative QFT. The present work completes this programme by constructing an action of the renormalisation group onto a suitable class of stochastic PDEs which is intertwined with its action on the corresponding space of models. This shows in particular that solutions constructed from the BPHZ lift of a smooth driving noise coincide with the classical solutions of a modified PDE. This yields a very general black box type local existence and stability theorem for a wide class of singular nonlinear SPDEs.

We study spaces of modelled distributions with singular behaviour near the boundary of a domain that, in the context of the theory of regularity structures, allow one to give robust solution theories for singular stochastic PDEs with boundary conditions. The calculus of modelled distributions established in Hairer (Invent. Math. 198, 2014) is extended to this setting. We formulate and solve fixed point problems in these spaces with a class of kernels that is sufficiently large to cover in particular the Dirichlet and Neumann heat kernels. These results are then used to provide solution theories for the KPZ equation with Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions and for the 2D generalised parabolic Anderson model with Dirichlet boundary conditions.
In the case of the KPZ equation with Neumann boundary conditions, we show that, depending on the class of mollifiers one considers, a "boundary renormalisation" takes place. In other words, there are situations in which a certain boundary condition is applied to an approximation to the KPZ equation, but the limiting process is the Hopf-Cole solution to the KPZ equation with a different boundary condition.

We prove a general theorem on the stochastic convergence of appropriately renormalized models arising from nonlinear stochastic PDEs. The theory of regularity structures gives a fairly automated framework for studying these problems but previous works had to expend significant effort to obtain these stochastic estimates in an ad-hoc manner.
In contrast, the main result of this article operates as a black box which automatically produces these estimates for nearly all of the equations that fit within the scope of the theory of regularity structures. Our approach leverages multi-scale analysis strongly reminiscent to that used in constructive field theory, but with several significant twists. These come in particular from the presence of "positive renormalizations" caused by the recentering procedure proper to the theory of regularity structure, from the difference in the action of the group of possible renormalization operations, as well as from the fact that we allow for non-Gaussian driving fields.
One rather surprising fact is that although the "canonical lift" is of course typically not continuous on any Hölder-type space containing the noise (which is why renormalization is required in the first place), we show that the "BPHZ lift" where the renormalization constants are computed using the formula given in arXiv:1610.08468, is continuous in law when restricted to a class of stationary random fields with sufficiently many moments.

We give a systematic description of a canonical renormalisation procedure of stochastic PDEs containing nonlinearities involving generalised functions. This theory is based on the construction of a new class of regularity structures which comes with an explicit and elegant description of a subgroup of their group of automorphisms. This subgroup is sufficiently large to be able to implement a version of the BPHZ renormalisation prescription in this context. This is in stark contrast to previous works where one considered regularity structures with a much smaller group of automorphisms, which lead to a much more indirect and convoluted construction of a renormalisation group acting on the corresponding space of admissible models by continuous transformations. Our construction is based on bialgebras of decorated coloured forests in cointeraction. More precisely, we have two Hopf algebras in cointeraction, coacting jointly on a vector space which represents the generalised functions of the theory. Two twisted antipodes play a fundamental role in the construction and provide a variant of the algebraic Birkhoff factorisation that arises naturally in perturbative quantum field theory.

A key result in that theory is the so-called reconstruction theorem: it defines a continuous linear operator that maps spaces of "modelled distributions" into the usual space of distributions. In the present paper, we extend the scope of this theorem to analogues to the whole class of Besov spaces $\mathcal{B}^γ_{p,q}$ with non-integer regularity indices. Our main result shows that on time scales shorter than the diffusive time scale, the limiting behaviour of trajectories that start close enough to cell boundaries is a fractional kinetic process: A Brownian motion time changed by the local time of an independent Brownian motion. Our proof uses the Freidlin-Wentzell framework, and the key step is to establish an analogous averaging principle on shorter time scales. As a consequence of our main theorem, we obtain a homogenization result for the associated advection-diffusion equation. We show that on intermediate time scales the effective equation is a fractional time PDE that arises in modelling anomalous diffusion.

We consider stochastic semi-linear evolution equations which are driven by additive, spatially correlated, Wiener noise, and in particular consider problems of heat equation (analytic semigroup) and damped-driven wave equations (bounded semigroup) type. We discretize these equations by means of a spectral Galerkin projection, and we study the approximation of the probability distribution of the trajectories: test functions are regular, but depend on the values of the process on the interval $[0,T]$.
We introduce a new approach in the context of quantative weak error analysis for discretization of SPDEs. The weak error is formulated using a deterministic function (Itô map) of the stochastic convolution found when the nonlinear term is dropped. The regularity properties of the Itô map are exploited, and in particular second-order Taylor expansions employed, to transfer the error from spectral approximation of the stochastic convolution into the weak error of interest.
We prove that the weak rate of convergence is twice the strong rate of convergence in two situations. First, we assume that the covariance operator commutes with the generator of the semigroup: the first order term in the weak error expansion cancels out thanks to an independence property. Second, we remove the commuting assumption, and extend the previous result, thanks to the analysis of a new error term depending on a commutator.

Abstract:
We give a concise overview of the theory of regularity structures as first exposed in [Hai14]. In order to allow to focus on the conceptual aspects of the theory, many proofs are omitted and statements are simplified. In order to provide both motivation and focus, we concentrate on the study of solutions to the stochastic quantisation equations for the Euclidean $Φ^4_3$ quantum field theory which…

We give a concise overview of the theory of regularity structures as first exposed in [Hai14]. In order to allow to focus on the conceptual aspects of the theory, many proofs are omitted and statements are simplified. In order to provide both motivation and focus, we concentrate on the study of solutions to the stochastic quantisation equations for the Euclidean $Φ^4_3$ quantum field theory which can be obtained with the help of this theory. In particular, we sketch the proofs of how one can show that this model arises quite naturally as an idealised limiting object for several classes of smooth models.

Abstract:
We consider the KPZ equation in one space dimension driven by a stationary centred space-time random field, which is sufficiently integrable and mixing, but not necessarily Gaussian. We show that, in the weakly asymmetric regime, the solution to this equation considered at a suitable large scale and in a suitable reference frame converges to the Hopf-Cole solution to the KPZ equation driven by spa…

We consider the KPZ equation in one space dimension driven by a stationary centred space-time random field, which is sufficiently integrable and mixing, but not necessarily Gaussian. We show that, in the weakly asymmetric regime, the solution to this equation considered at a suitable large scale and in a suitable reference frame converges to the Hopf-Cole solution to the KPZ equation driven by space-time Gaussian white noise. While the limiting process depends only on the integrated variance of the driving field, the diverging constants appearing in the definition of the reference frame also depend on higher order moments.

Multiplicative stochastic heat equations on the whole space

Abstract:
We carry out the construction of some ill-posed multiplicative stochastic heat equations on unbounded domains. The two main equations our result covers are, on the one hand the parabolic Anderson model on $\mathbf{R}^3$, and on the other hand the KPZ equation on $\mathbf{R}$ via the Cole-Hopf transform. To perform these constructions, we adapt the theory of regularity structures to the setting of…

The two main equations our result covers are, on the one hand the parabolic Anderson model on $\mathbf{R}^3$, and on the other hand the KPZ equation on $\mathbf{R}$ via the Cole-Hopf transform. To perform these constructions, we adapt the theory of regularity structures to the setting of weighted Besov spaces. One particular feature of our construction is that it allows one to start both equations from a Dirac mass at the initial time.

Optimal rate of convergence for stochastic Burgers-type equations
Authors:

Abstract:
Recently, a solution theory for one-dimensional stochastic PDEs of Burgers type driven by space-time white noise was developed. In particular, it was shown that natural numerical approximations of these equations converge and that their convergence rate in the uniform topology is arbitrarily close to $\frac{1}{6}$. In the present article we improve this result in the case of additive noise by prov…

In the present article we improve this result in the case of additive noise by proving that the optimal rate of convergence is arbitrarily close to $\frac{1}{2}$.
