VOLUNTEERS
The ASP welcomes volunteers as needed, especially student volunteers. Please contact us at community@astrosociety.org if you are interested. Note: As of August 2023, the ASP offices no longer require the use of a mask when entering the building, however staff will respect the request of volunteers & guests to wear one as needed.
2019 Student Volunteer and recent graduate of South San Francisco High School, Emily Gomez Urbina, shares her experience.
I heard (or found) the ASP when I was doing research on nonprofits around the Bay Area and found the ASP website! Brian May is one of the reasons I became interested in Astronomy. I think he's so cool, and it solidified my love for Queen. Another event that sparked my interest was when I saw the constellation Orion on a school trip at night, and when there was a lunar eclipse on my birthday. The wonder and will to study this field was influenced by my physics teacher who taught a section of Astronomy! There's still a lot I need to understand about the universe, and I can't seem to wrap my head around it! Volunteering at the ASP wasn't just about focusing on a task, it was also about understanding the importance for a project.
