This study examined the supply chain performance implications of institutional pressures and supply chain technology among Ghanaian firms. The study employed the quantitative method and survey design. Data was sourced from 394 managers of small to large-scale firms operating in the Greater Accra Metropolis of Ghana. Many studies on CSR focus on manufacturing or industrial companies by examining external CSR activities from external stakeholders’ perceptions. However, academic institutions such as higher education institutions (HEIs) remain highly unexplored in the context of internal corporate social responsibility (ICSR). Employees are the most valuable and vital assets for every business organization. Therefore, this study focuses on CSR’s internal dimensions to determine its impact on social performance in HEIs in Ghana. Recognizing the social exchange theory (SET), we specifically examined the effects of five internal CSR dimensions (i.e., health and safety, human rights, training and development, workplace diversity, and work-life balance) on social performance. We used a multi-case approach to assess internal CSR activities in private and public Ghanaian universities. We purposely s...

To expand its assess network, TGCL introduced a new service strategy authorising private garages known as Toyota Ghana Authorized Service Shops (TGASS) to offer accessibility to clients outside of the four catchment areas of the company. In that vein, the current study sought to assess the impact of the new service strategy on the performance of the supply chain of TGCL. The study employed the mixed method approach in conducting the study using a total of 90 participants (15 managerial staff and 75 clients) selected through the purposive and convenient sampling techniques. Data was collected using questionnaires and unstructured interviews. The results show that respondents perceived TGCL’s supply chain performance improved significantly after the introduction of the TGASS service strategy. The study, therefore, concluded that i...

The study employed the qualitative paradigm of research design. The purposive sampling technique was adopted to select 70 participants from the two study areas. Data collection was mainly through interviews with beekeepers, wholesalers, retailers and honey consumers. The results revealed that honey flows along the supply chain from the beekeepers through to the cooperative associations and then to retailers and to the final consumer. Also, quality remains a major challenge for consumers of honey.

That is to say a firm with a flexible supply chain is likely to survive and grow its market share. Despite several evidences suggesting that performance improvements are related to SCM, managing supply chains today and practicing flexibility has become more difficult due to the fact that business environments are highly competitive, businesses are going more global, dynamic, and customer‐driven. Therefore, this study assessed the path between supply chain flexibility and firm performance using supply chain agility as a moderating variable. The findings revealed that SC Flexibility and SC Agility positively correlated firm performance (p<0.01/0.05). Additionally, moderating SC Agility on SC Flexibility, produced a positive effect, however the effect was insignificant and this implies that SC agility does not significantly moderate the positive impact the SC Flexibility has on firm performance. SC flexibility better predicts firm performance through SC Agility as a moderator and not moderator. Therefore, it is rather necessary to appreciate the individual roles that both SC Flexibility and SC Agility play to ensure value for customers and thereby contributing to firm performance and not necessarily moderating each other.

Both teaching and non-teaching staffs are responsible for producing such caliber of skilled labor to feed society. Job satisfaction and commitment interplay in the production of this skilled manpower. This study aims at examining job satisfaction and commitment among the non-teaching staff of the College of Technology of the University of Education Winneba – Kumasi (COLTEK) and their effects on job performance. The case study strategy was used to help explain the dynamics of job satisfaction and commitment at the University College. The data utilized for the study were from primary and secondary sources in which data collection instruments mainly used for primary data were questionnaires and observation whereas books, journals, newspapers, and Internet were sources of secondary data. The response rate for the questionnaires was 93%. The mean and standard deviation test was also used as the basis for the data analysis. The study established that 74% of the aggregate commitment served perfectly the average of both the affective, continuance and normative commitment. The affective commitment domain increased an individual’s satisfaction on a job by 76% whereas the continuance commitment domain exhibition of both senior and junior staff of theUniversity of Education increased their satisfaction by 75%. The normative commitment domain, on the other hand, increased satisfaction with a 70% satisfaction on the job. Thus, the study concluded that the management of the College of Technology Education - Kumasi should make conscious efforts to map out the exact strategies to roll out an effective condition of service to boost the confidence of staff (senior and junior) to reduce employee turnover.
