This will be a book that focuses on landscapes and geographical regions through the story of beer... more This will be a book that focuses on landscapes and geographical regions through the story of beer. We are interested in exploring the micro-geographies and micro-cultures of beer and place. Beer helps to tell stories about urban renewal, development, gender, race, consumption, farming and food, and neighborhoods and communities. Chapters can focus on any aspect of craft beer, but should include some type of geographical (space/place) focus/context (community, neighborhood, city, region, brewscape, etc.). To make the book mixed media and of interest to multiple audiences, we plan to reach out to bloggers, brewers, industry spokespersons, artists, etc.
Academics in diverse disciplines and beer geeks are welcome to submit abstracts for chapters. Chapter proposals should be 500-1000 words and are due June 25, 2018. Proposals should include: • The topic and how it fits into the framework of the book • Key concepts of the chapter • Methods (if the chapter is based on empirical research) • Expected conclusions or outcomes Please send proposals and any questions to Daina Cheyenne Harvey (dharvey@holycross.edu).
