Symphonic Band Sesquicentennial Celebration

Established in 1874 as the Augustana Silver Cornet Band, the Augustana College band program has grown to include several ensembles. In 2024, the Augustana Symphonic Band (formerly the Augustana Concert Band) will mark its 150th anniversary on Nov. 22-24.

Augustana Symphonic Band celebration concert

The Augustana Symphonic Band will perform, directed by Dr. James Lambrecht. The group will premiere "Symphony No. 6: Color of Stars," a piece by American composer Kevin Walczyk written in honor of the band's 150th anniversary. The alumni band will also perform.
