Thermodynamic properties, in three investigated sections with molar ratio In:Sn=1:1, 1:2 and 1:4, have been calculated at the temperature of 1423 K using different predicting methods (general solution model, Toop, Hillert, Muggianu, Kohler, Redlich-Kister), compared mutually and with literature experimental data. The alloys

It is usually disposed in uncovered tailing ponds in the vicinity of a copper smelter plant. Heavy metals released into the water and soil can cause a number of environmental problems. The amount of copper in copper flotation waste is high enough to be extracted economically using appropriate methods. In this study, the leaching characteristics of copper flotation waste from the Bor Copper Mine, Serbia, were investigated to assess the feasibility of copper extraction.

Following thermodynamic parameters were obtained: activities, activity coefficients, partial and integral molar quantities at temperature of 727 °C, and compared with available literature data. Also, the energetic of mixing in liquid alloys has been analyzed through the study of concentration fluctuation in the long-wavelength limit.

Investigations, carried out in the section from Ga corner with molar ratio of In:Sb equal to 1:1, were done experimentally, using Oelsen calorimetry at the temperature 873 K and analytically, applying different calculation methods—Toop and Muggianu, in the temperature interval from 873 to 1673 K. Excess molar Gibbs energies and activity of all components in specified temperature interval were calculated.

Phase diagram of the mentioned section has been calculated according to CALPHAD model, using Pandat software. In the frame of alloys characterization, structural, mechanical and electrical characteristics were determined using SEM-EDX analysis, microhardness and electroconductivity measurements.

The thermodynamic study was done experimentally – using Oelsen calorimetry, for the section Ga – SnZn eut , and analytically – according to the general so-lution model, for the whole system. Main thermodynamic quantities – integral and partial molar Gibbs excess ener-gies, activities and activity coefficients were calculated over a wide temperature range. Additionally, the phase diagram of the section Ga – SnZn eut was investigated using differential thermal analysis and predicted using the CALPHAD method. Comparison with available literature data showed reasonable agreement. The liquidus projection of the ternary Ga – Sn – Zn was also calculated.

The research was carried out experimentally, using Oelsen calorimetry in temperature interval 800–1,000 K, and by thermodynamic calculation, applying general solution model in temperature interval 800–1,600 K. The enthalpy space diagram, the enthalpy isotherm diagram, as well as the values for zinc activities, partial and integral molar Gibbs excess energies have been determined. Comparison of experimentally obtained results and the results calculated by general solution model was done at the temperatures 800, 900, and 1000 K, which indicated a good mutual agreement.
