The EU needs to finally decide that it has to act as the global actor it claims to be and create concrete and at the same time long term policies.
Hillary Clinton has all the potential for a US president, and she has been preparing for this role for years. She is more prepared than she was in 2008, and is very aware of the mistakes she made during her previous campaign.

Netanyahu’s speech came after John Boehner ignored the White House and invited Netanyahu for a speech in the Congress during his re-election running bid in the forthcoming elections in Israel.

The ICC might not have the diplomatic ability or power it should, yet the way it will treat the Palestinian issue will most probably determine the future of the peace process as all sides will have to re-evaluate their approaches.

This presentation focused on slut-shaming and bullying based on cases of teenage suicides.
The presentation included a brief description of terms (hate speech, cyber-bullying, slut-shaming) and focused on three case studies: Amanda Todd's suicide, the Steubenville rape case, and the attacks against Annita Sarkesian.
This mandate gave the opportunity to the Conservative Christian Right to influence even more the presidential race by attacking not only the Obama administration but also anyone who did not express a clear – pro - life - view on the debate. However, the main issue in the whole debate is that it undermines women’s human rights in the USA by not giving them the chance to defend their right to “decide independently in all matters related to reproduction” (Human Rights Watch). One example of that is that during the congressional hearing for the birth control mandate only male religious leaders were present.
This paper aims to introduce the audience to the abortion debate in the USA and its impact on US politics and women’s rights. First of all, it will examine the role the abortion debate has played on the 2012 presidential race with a special focus on the GOP Republican Primary elections. In addition, it will examine the way the conservative Christian Right has influenced the abortion discussion and the presidential race. Last but not least, the presentation will conclude that the debate on abortion rights during the presidential race has had a negative impact on women’s rights in the USA.

I visited the Greek-FYRO Macedonia borders with Ricardo Lima, a colleague of mine. It was the second time I visited the area, and with the help of Vassilis Tsartsanis, an activist and cinematographer, and Alexandros, a local we managed to speak with several Syrian and Afghan refugees. Although the weather was still cold, this time there were even more people than the previous time, families with children under 5 years old, teenagers who were travelling alone, and pregnant women.
As I prepare for a third visit, here is a photo report I published at Demotix: http://www.demotix.com/news/7298822/idomeni-exit-europe-syrian-and-afghan-refugees#media-7298408
Borders of Despair is part of a story I’m working on the Greek – Macedonian borders. I visited the village of Idomeni which is located right next to the borders with FYROM on 17th January. I went there with the Anti-racist movement of Thessaloniki and with two friends and colleagues in order to monitor the situation. For the past few months refugees from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and other places from the Middle East and Central and South Asia, arrive in order to cross the borders and reach Northern Europe. In their long trip they came against nature and the cold winter of northern Greece, and the authorities both Greek and Macedonian. In their long wait and many tries they find shelter in the fields of Idomeni next to the river banks. Some may stay there for hours but other for days and weeks.
