This thesis aims to examine and discuss independent film production, distribution and screening problems in Turkey after 2010. First, how the independent cinema concept emerged in the world and how the development of independent cinema progressed historically was explained.
The topic includes more social issues in Yeşilçam period of past years through Turkey with the emergence of new independent cinema era began. There is an analysis by the number of mainstream and independent cinema audience in the cinema sector that made Turkey's independent cinema audience. Production, distribution and screening as a step when examining Turkey's independent cinema has received much support, how they go through a process of distribution and exhibition and screening aspect ratio resulted in the statistics. It was commented on whether the films in which the independent cinema was shown were shown enough for the films.
The effect of censorship mechanism in the film industry was examined in particular how they handle a transaction with the state censor on independent cinema in Turkey. Along with this concept, the idea of censored films and why they are being censored was determined and it has been viewed. Another problem is that gender roles were illustrated with examples of how the situation is in Turkey. No matter how many female independent directors, producers etc were they had received support from the state interpreted on the tables. After the discussion about the changes made in the cinema industry in Turkey for independent cinema it was interpreted through research.
Finally, how the independent cinema in Turkey entered under a process and thought about how it will get there a better way out of this process under a measure or written recommendations. In the section of these measures and recommendations, the cinema sector was interpreted with the thoughts of important people.
