ABSTRACT
This research aims to determine the current situation of the Antiquarian Avant-garde movement in Turkish Contemporary Photography. Following this purpose; Identification of the artists who can be included in the antiquarian avant-garde movement and inspection of the work they produce, examining the historical photographic processes these artists work with, understanding of their practices and motivations using these methods, the investigation of materials, devices and tools availability within Turkey and the artists’ evaluation of the education on historical photographic processes given in Turkey. The current situation of the
movement was determined by evaluating the opinions of the participants.
In this study, the face-to-face interview technique, one of the qualitative research methods, was used. Data were collected by video interview technique using a survey form that was not structured and prepared in line with expert opinions. The sample group of the research consists of artists who produce works using historical photographic processes, who have embraced these processes as an integral part of their repertoire, who are alive today, who implement historical photographic processes, who have hold at least one personal exhibition of their works containing these techniques and/or participated in group exhibitions with such processes. 16 artists from the sample group were interviewed by video interview method and the videos obtained were later transcribed, classified according to the answers given, and
descriptive analysis method was applied to the obtained data.
As a result of the findings presented by the research, it was concluded that the antique avant- garde movement in Turkish contemporary photography had a healthy development and showed parallels with its practitioners in the world. In addition, it was concluded that logistic difficulties were encountered in terms of practice and that there were problems in education
and availability of resources in Turkish.

Ankara : The Department of Graphic Design, İhsan Doğramacı Bilkent University, 2013.Thesis (Master's) -- Bilkent University, 2013.Includes biblioraphical references 125-128.This thesis explores the possibility of an alternative future of photography from the union of digital and chemical domains of the photographic medium. The historical photographic processes known as Cyanotype, Salt print and Vandyke Brown are employed for this project in conjunction with the modern inkjet printer produced digital negatives. As being highly sensitive to the variables during the process, each alternative photographic print exhibits a visual uniqueness. In this aspect, there is conceptual correlation with the visual uniqueness of alternative photographic processes and the visual uniqueness of albinism. Emphasizing the human element in subject, vision and craft of making photographs, this project aims to produce unique photographs of a visually unique subject.Bilici, SerdarM.S
