Catherine Grant
Until August 2020, Catherine Grant was Professor of Digital Media and Screen Studies at Birkbeck, University of London, based in the Department of Film, Media and Cultural Studies in the School of Arts. She has since been appointed as Honorary Research Fellow in the School.
Grant works now mostly as a freelance audio-visual essayist and independent scholar, mostly writing and making video essays about film and moving image studies. She is author of the Open Access scholarly website Film Studies For Free. Grant has published widely on theories and practices of film authorship, adaptation and intertextuality, and has edited important collections of work on world cinema, Latin American cinema, digital film and media studies, and the audiovisual essay.
