Grid edge renewable technologies frameworks enabling sustainable cities

Abstract

Grid-Edge Technologies is an integrating concept aimed at the evolution of electricity markets, through intelligent electrical networks (Smart Grids), with renewable and distributed energy sources, and new business models among the agents of a new market. The emphasis is on the search for modern solutions for prosumers, consumers, concessionaires, and governments, with an assessment of technologies, impacts, and opportunities. Therefore, this research project, linked to CPTEn - São Paulo Center for Energy Transition Studies (Process: FAPESP: 2021/11380-5), aims to develop Grid edge renewable technologies frameworks enabling smart cities. Based on big data analytics as well as information on electricity bills for public buildings in Conchal-SP, it is planned to evaluate in practice the possible energy sustainability solutions in this city as a pilot project, resulting in methodologies and processes for expanding the analysis to other municipalities in the state of São Paulo.
