Emeritus Professor Brian Herbert Roberts EXPERIENCE SYNOPSIS Emeritus Professor Brian Roberts has a distinguished 45-year career as a professional planner, project manager, academic, and advisor, contributing expertise across a broad spectrum of urban and regional planning, urban management, institutional capacity building, land management and administration, and economic development endeavours spanning 35 countries. He has held senior positions within organizations such as the United Nations Centre for Human Settlements, Queensland State Government (Australia), Director of two Australian university research centres, the private consulting industry and Managing Director of his own research company. He has served as a senior advisor to prominent entities, including UNOPS, UNDP, the Asian Development Bank, and the World Bank. Throughout these roles, he managed large-scale, multidisciplinary projects, oversaw national and regional institutional reform initiatives, crafted national urban management policies, facilitated advanced education and training programs, and provided strategic briefings to heads of State and ministers across multiple jurisdictions. Professor Roberts has actively participated as a speaker, presenter, moderator, and panellist at numerous national and international forums, conferences, and seminars while also contributing as a peer reviewer and author to various international journals, books, and publications. He has served as an assessor for the Australian Research Council and several international development agency research and development grants. Professor Roberts' dedication to education and research is evidenced by his involvement in teaching, as well as his authorship and coauthorship of 130 conference papers, journal articles, book chapters, books, and a regional economic development textbook. He has contributed to writing over 150 reports, including contributions to two UN-Habitat State of the World City Reports. He has provided supervision and examination for master's and Ph.D. theses.
