Traditional water resources, which were once the lifeblood of the Himalayan population, are disappearing alarmingly in Himalayan areas of Uttarakhand. In these steep regions of Uttarakhand, life cannot advance in the correct path without these natural water sources. Traditional water resources provided for many kinds of daily requirements, including drinking, cooking, cleaning, irrigation, and caring for animals. Water is becoming more scarce everywhere in the world, even in the Himalayan region. In an effort to prevent future generations from facing a shortage of potable water, efforts should be made to protect these ancient natural water sources.

The goals of the research are to gain a better understanding of the difficulties encountered by Indian women in NRI marriages, the influence of cultural norms on their vulnerability, the effectiveness of legislation protections, and the incidence of abusive relationships. Secondary sources were used for this investigation. These included scholarly articles, government reports, and case studies. According to the statistics, NRI women who are expected to pay a dowry are often subjected to economic and physical harassment. Cultural standards and gender roles place them in an already vulnerable position, and the complexity of the law makes it harder for them to get justice when they need it. The study's authors suggested that public awareness efforts and victim support initiatives should be given top priority. With this information in hand, policymakers and practitioners may implement targeted interventions to better protect the rights and well-being of women in NRI marriages. Harassment of women who are not Indian nationals but who are married to Indian nationals or permanent residents is an issue that needs more research.

Most of the writings and write ups, appeared in the 19 th and 20 th centuries for depicting the different aspects of Indian History and Culture from the earliest to the modern times, have been the subject of severe debate, criticism and distortions. Often a loop-sided picture of Indian history, tilting towards subjectivity and bias, sidelining and omitting the concept of cause and effect, has been displayed, thus endangering, thereby, the much desired 'Rational Model' and 'Consensus Model'. The first extensive major event in the annals of freedom movement against the foreign rule broke out in 1857 and shook the foundation of the colonial rule but it lacking objective assessment and systematic and scientific marshalling of facts. There has been a tug of war whether to call it a 'Sepoy Mutiny' or a 'Great Revolt'. The tradition and conservative British writers have fashioned to highlight only the military character of the revolt and completely ignoring mass participation therein. To them it was completely a military insurrection. This research paper attempts to report different European historian's interest in Indian affairs and their observations, views, liberal approaches and analysis of the events unfolding during the uprising of 1857 in India.

This is perceived to be highly suitable for providing employment and, thereby, improving the quality of life. The educational status of Muslim women in India is worse than that of Muslim men and women of other communities. They have the lowest work participation rate and most of them engage in the self-employment activities. The article suggests that state governments need to make special provisions, over and above the nonnal, for dr~wing and retaining Muslim girls in school till class 81h as a fundamental right, and for improving their participation in secondary and higher technical education and professional education, so that they can contribute effectively in the socio-economic development of the nation.

Does this imply that pushing just one of these two levers would set a virtuous circle in motion? This paper reviews the literature on both sides of the empowerment and development nexus, and argues that the interrelationships are probably too weak to be self-sustaining, and that continuous policy commitment to equality for its own sake may be needed to bring about equality between men and women. Introduction: India is one of the world"s fastest growing economies, with women mainly from the middle classes increasingly entering the workforce. The Global Gender Report by the World Economic Forum in 2014 ranked India 114 th out of 142 countries for inequality between men and women in the economy, politics, education and health.
