Thus, the urban sound studies of 21 century focus on integrating physical and perceptual factors, which underlie the interaction between citizenship and its closest acoustic environment. This study examines the soundscape produced by market places of 5 towns in the department of Cauca (Colombia). To do so, 50 noise measurements and 50 stereophonic recordings were made for the purpose of obtaining soundscape cartographies that allowed their proper evaluation. The findings prove a wide range of spatial variability, which suggests the conformation of positive and differenced sound experiences according to the particularity of each evaluated place. Therefore, it is concluded that the soundscape diversity contributes to the social well-being of the population and to the phonic identity of the city, especially if it is adopted during urban planning processes. In this logic, the inclusion and revitalization of the public market areas can be considered, since their various layers of meaning are part of the sonorous imaginary of the urban inhabitants. Likewise, it is also recommended to expand the scale of detail in future studies and to deepen in new tools of representation and understanding of the urban soundscape.

Many "new" dynamics are occurred in this region about this diversity, and the project that we present is focused on-from the creation-researching-and by means of a direct interpretation that territorial diversity. Based on the photography and the sound landscape, we pretend to show a possible idea of cultural territory (ies), and it is surrounding the exhibiting sketch that this idea of "habitat" has been forming. The difficulties that the project tackles put the focal point to demonstrate that "other" visions are possible thanks to the reflective spaces suggested by visual design and art; and especially define the problem around the new identitarian narratives arose from post-conflict. Supported by qualitative methodology, ethnographically, the project goes deep into the exploration of the multicultural territoriality. First, developing inspection dynamics and documentation of visual and sound perspectives around the socio-cultural speech and then, implementing from visual fields (photographic image) and sound (soundscapes) a contest understanding, of actors and/ or "places". We wanted to show a territory self-constructed as a defined cultural imaginary.

Its study makes it possible to understand the interaction between citizens and the acoustic environment where they live. This work examines the soundscape of the historic quarter of Popayán, Colombia. 121 measurements of noise and 50 records of perceived loudness in situ were made in order to obtain maps of the urban soundscape. These maps enabled the comprehensive assessment of the soundscape in the case-study area. The results verify the dependence of spatial and temporal behavioral patterns and suggest that their variability could influence the Latin American city’s sound experience. It can be concluded that soundscape should be considered during the urban planning process. From this perspective, parks and green areas should be taken into account not only for environmental and other well-known reasons, but also to provide healthier and more balanced soundscapes for the city and its citizens. Likewise, for future studies it is recommended the scale be extended, as well as the analysis of the relationship between public open space and its resulting soundscape.
