Bridles are not halters. Bridles generally have a bit and are used when riding on an animal. Halters are used for leading an animal in-hand. Headgear for riding that do not include bits are called hackamores. Some types of hackamores are called "bitless bridles," which is not correct terminology, but examples may be included here for ease of searching. See also:
