Category:Equivalence classes

English: This category contains all the multiple and possibly overlapping formal and informal ways of classifying, categorizing, stereotyping, etc. based on equivalence and similarity. These are used to identify members of that class as equal under one point of view, although they can be different under alternative divisions. Note that categorization itself creates equivalence classes, so they are not all repeated here - except perhaps for a few significant cases. Mostly the few fundamental equivalences appear here, or the relative basis for categorization.
For example, a female and male manager may be considered the same (under function) and different (under gender). Managers, employees, males and females form instances of equivalence classes within this category, but functional or gender distinctions would be the only subcategory.
