English: Khost or Khowst ( Pashto/Persian: خوست) is a city in eastern Afghanistan. It is the capital of Khost Province, which is a mountainous region near Afghanistan's border with neighboring Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Pakistan. The population of the city of Khost is about 160,000 and the whole province has around a million people. These numbers, however, may have increased in the last decade due to the arriving of expats from Pakistan, Iran, and other countries.
