The importance of knowing the behavior and characteristic disorders criminal committing cannibalism, refers in the fact of the lack of a comprehensive analysis concerning the practice by the criminal investigation, starting with the way he typified in our country; as murder and desecration of a corpse, along with omissions typical criminological aspect of this type of crime, or to characterize the cannibal just as antisocial subject, without going into other conditions or in the true etiology of their practice, with which, you can diagnosis, prognosis and issue a correctional treatment specifically designed for this type of criminal.

Knowledge of the size helps to rule out or support individual identification. This study aimed to obtain the degree of relationship between the actual size of 56 bodies of Mexican mestizo race and size estimated by the odontometric technique of Carrea. Methodology. An analytical, correlational and cross-sectional study was performed. Actual size was measured and it was related to that obtained by using the method of Carrea. Results. According to Dr. Carrea, his proposed technique considers a variation of +/- 4 cm, in relation to the average size. We found a closer approximation to the minimum size of Carrea, with an average change of +/- 3.19 cm, and less than 3 cm approach in 60.7% of the sample. Conclusions. In the studied group of Mexican mestizos high positive linear correlation (r = 0.8256) was found between the actual size and the minimum size obtained by the method of Carrea. Therefore, this is ...

Material and methods: Analytical, correlational and cross-sectional study in 2 cadaveric Mexican populations. Sample: 56 bodies, 32 of Veracruz and 24 of the Federal District. In each corpse 4 morphometric measurements were performed, of which 5 derivatives were obtained. Statistical analysis: 1) mean and standard deviation (SD) was calculated; 2) for sex, t Student and Levene tests for comparison of means and SDs were used; 3) to calculate the variability between Federal District and Veracruz, principal component analysis was made; 4) the heights, real, minimum, average and maximum were compared by univariate ANOVA, and 5) a Pearson correlation analysis between actual and minimum heights was performed. Results: No differences were found between the 2 cadavers samples studied, neither between real and minimum height in either group: Federal District, real height (172.08 ± 6.53 cm.) and minimum height (171.35 ± 7.81 cm) (P>.05); Veracruz, real height (167.5 ± 5.77 cm) and minimum height (166.50 ± 6.36 cm) (P>.05), having that the correlation between real height and the minimum height is advisable for both samples, Federal District (r=.79, P=.000), Veracruz (r=.82, P=.000) and overall (r=.83, P=.000). Conclusions: The dental Carrea’s method, using the minimum height reference, is an excellent estimate of the actual size in mexican corpses.

However, in some cases the process of necro-identification becomes difficult, as it is in both natural disasters and anthropogenic, violent deaths where the victim is deformed intentionally, and those natural deaths in which the body is deformed by taphonomic factors. It is in these cases where forensic odontology can be very useful, this due to the characteristic hardness of dental tissues and his permanence compared to other body tissues. The odontometry emerges as a tool of dental anthropology, and applied for study of morphometric parameters of the teeth. Data such as: ancestry, sex, age, and height, can be estimated by diverse odontometric studies. Diverse sources mention as through dental dimensions can approximate the racial group or ancestral fellowship, sexual dimorphism parameters, dentin mineralization degrees, periodontosis, apexification, stages associated with age, among other data, and this information can be useful in the forensic context. The proper use of methods like the odontometry, can be an auxiliary or unique tool to obtain the identify of corpses. Keywords: Forensic odontology, odontometry, taphonomy, dental anthropology, sexual dimorphism, ancestry, apexification.
