The Internet of things (IoT) is currently contributing to a growing range of applications for int... more The Internet of things (IoT) is currently contributing to a growing range of applications for intelligent environments by means of the interconnection of heterogeneous IoT smart devices over the Internet. Generally, smart devices are implemented through services (e.g., REST webservices) which can be consumed by other services or any other external application. In any case, services are essentially passive requiring necessarily another consuming software entity to be use. In this paper, the development of a new class of smart IoT device, called smart agent-based IoT device is proposed based on the implementation of software embedded agents. These agents can be executed proactively exploring the services, resources, devices, and even other agents located in the IoT environment to enhance the functionality of the smart agent-based device. In this way, we can improve overall system performance at runtime in a unaware IoT environment where IoT devices and available resources are not known a priori. In this paper, a description of the embedded agent model and the smart agent-based IoT device are outlined as well as how it is applied in the context of a smart home environment.

Comparable methodology can be utilized for planning other root activities, for example, 3D shape roots, fifth roots, etc. Two unique structures are examined, one, combinational, straight forward, got from Taylor arrangement development and one consecutive, got from Newton's enhancement condition. The results are better, lower region, and lower power utilization for the subsequent engineering contrasted with the first.

The system model is proposed, a brief description of the VI is used and the performance curves of bit error rates are presented in an AWGN channel for each modulation schemes modeled.

Today, through the monitoring of agronomic variables, the wireless sensor networks are playing an... more Today, through the monitoring of agronomic variables, the wireless sensor networks are playing an increasingly important role in precision agriculture. Among the emerging technologies used to develop prototypes related to wireless sensor network, we find the Arduino platform and XBee radio modules from the DIGI Company. In this article, based on field tests, we conducted a comparative analysis of received strength signal intensity levels, calculation of path loss with “log-normal shadowing” and free-space path loss models. In addition, we measure packet loss for different transmission, distances and environments with respect to an “Arduino Mega” board, and radio modules XBee PRO S1 and XBee Pro S2. The tests for the packet loss and received strength signal intensity level show the best performance for the XBee Pro S2 in the indoor, outdoor, and rural scenarios.
Buñuelos are a traditional food not only in Colombia but in several parts of the world. They are ... more Buñuelos are a traditional food not only in Colombia but in several parts of the world. They are prepared mainly with cassava starch, cornstarch, cheese, water or milk. The purpose of this work is to determine which factors (trademark, time, temperature, serving size) or interactions between them are important to achieve a major volume of the buñuelos. Thus, a 2 k design is proposed to analyze the factors on the growth rate of buñuelos. The growth rate is calculated taking into account the buñuelos diameter before fried and after fried. The results indicate that the serving size has the principal effect on the response variable but followed by the trademark and some interactions between time and temperature.
Cancer is a constantly evolving disease, which affects a large number of people worldwide. Great ... more Cancer is a constantly evolving disease, which affects a large number of people worldwide. Great efforts have been made at the research level for the development of tools based on data mining techniques that allow to detect or prevent breast cancer. The large volumes of data play a fundamental role according to the literature consulted, a great variety of dataset oriented to the analysis of the disease has been generated, in this research the Breast Cancer dataset was used, the purpose of the proposed research is to submit comparison of the J48 and randomforest, NaiveBayes and NaiveBayes Simple, SMO Poli-kernel and SMO RBF-Kernel classification algorithms, integrated with the Simple K-Means cluster algorithm for the generation of a model that allows the successful classification of patients who are or Non-recurring breast cancer after having previously undergone surgery for the treatment of said disease, finally the methods that obtained the best levels were SMO Poly-Kernel + Simple K-Means 98.5% of Precision, 98.5% recall, 98.5% TPRATE and 0.2% FPRATE. The results obtained suggest the possibility of using intelligent computational tools based on data mining methods for the detection of breast cancer recurrence in patients who had previously undergone surgery.

Agriculture, and natural resources associated to its development like water, soils and forests, h... more Agriculture, and natural resources associated to its development like water, soils and forests, have a relevant role in the future of countries and environmental conservation. The optimization of these resources is made with the implementation of technological strategies and tools that make it possible. In this sense, we developed a monitoring prototype for agronomic variables in cassava crops (Manihot Esculenta Crantz) in the Atlántico department (Colombia) based in WSN using Z1 motes as hardware platform and the temperature and soil moisture sensor SHT11. The operating system used was Contiki, and the routing protocol was RPL. The Network Performance Metrics evaluated were packet loss, RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator), LQI (Link Quality Indicator) and network convergence time. Then, a deployment model using Schläfli notation to determine the location and number of nodes, also we calculated the coverage range of the nodes to keep network uniformity. With these calculations, we obtained the linkage budgets between specks, and results were validated with RadioMobile software. Then, test fields were made in a cassava crop located in the city of Manati, Atlántico. Finally, with the help of server client architecture XAMPP, all data was stored and visualized through SIMCA (Agricultural Crop Information and Monitoring System), a web application developed by authors.
