«Ha querido el azar que Mozart, el siglo de las luces y la “Vieja Habana” se juntaran en uno de l... more «Ha querido el azar que Mozart, el siglo de las luces y la “Vieja Habana” se juntaran en uno de los templos consagrados a la música, el que fuera sede de la Congregación del Oratorio de San Felipe Neri. La propuesta de fundar el Lyceum Mozartiano de La Habana vino de manos de Ulises Hernández, un entusiasta músico que además de hacer arte, aprecia el valor de gestionarlo, de preservar la memoria y el legado de los que nos precedieron. Hace ya algunos años tiene allí su sede la orquesta del Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA), y para hacerla crecer en conocimiento, le ha asistido desde la ciudad misma del famoso músico la Fundación Mozarteum de Salzburgo. De Mozart decía José Martí: “(...) de todos los niños prodigiosos en el arte de la música, el más célebre era él que no parecía que necesitaba de maestros para aprender (...)”». Así elogiaba el Historiador de la Ciudad, Eusebio Leal Spengler, el trabajo que se ha realizado en La Habana Vieja con la música orquestal.
Potenciada por el Lyceum Mozartiano, ha obtenido mayor visibilidad y alcance social a partir del Festival Mozart Habana y del auspicio del proyecto La música clásica europea en el entorno de La Habana Vieja. Este proyecto coordinado por la Oficina del Historiador de la Ciudad, la Fundación Mozarteum de Salzburgo y la Comisión Europea, ha influido determinantemente en la vida espiritual de la comunidad, generando acciones que propician cada vez más la inclusión de todos los sectores sociales.
De manera que este número de El Sincopado Habanero se dedica a la música orquestal. Comenzando con una mirada hacia el pasado, publicamos una de las más antiguas obras escritas por Cayetano Pagueras (Barcelona, s. XVIII-La Habana?,
s. XIX), compositor que estuvo al servicio de la Catedral de La Habana y cuyo gradual Alleluja. Dominus regnavit decorem (ca. 1791) nos remonta a ese ambiente sonoro clásico que unificaba el acontecer musical de Europa y América. Andando en
el tiempo, nos detendremos a leer sobre la Orquesta Filarmónica de La Habana y el testimonio de sus programas de mano, documentos que revelan que la música sinfónica tiene en Cuba un largo camino transitado.
De la más reciente actualidad, tendrán noticia de los ecos del Festival de Música Contemporánea, el propio Festival Mozart Habana, y como colofón, presentamos una entrevista a José Antonio Méndez Padrón, un joven y talentoso director que, cual
Mozart en la jungla, se enfrenta al desafío mayor del arte: la apatía, temible enemigo de la buena música, la que solo es posible que suene y nos haga vibrar si la pasión le asiste. Esa pasión inherente a los más «jóvenes que hacen que se renueven siempre nuestros votos de preservar a toda costa la sabiduría y la belleza».
Un nuevo trabajo centrado en el órgano, dedicado esta vez al valioso instrumento de la habanera Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Merced en el centro histórico y un acercamiento iconográfico a las Musas, de la emblemática escultora cubana Rita Longa, que se encuentran en el cine teatro Payret, serán otros de los temas que esta vez nos ocupen.
