This combined model is used to automatically generate multi-lingual and personalized textual descriptions of cultural heritage objects represented as instances of an OWL domain ontology annotated by RDF linguistic and adaptation resources. Metadata and annotations are created using an authoring environment, which considerably reduces the effort required to port the system to a new domain.

The ontology design is driven by the requirements of ontology-based, multi-lingual language processing and retrieval use cases, but care is taken to architect the foundations in a way that can be extended to support other use cases in the domain. More specifically, NREO codifies and cross-references existing terminology glossaries and stakeholder lists into machine-processable terminological resources. At the interest of semantic interoperability, the proposed architecture is based on the Simple Knowledge Organization Scheme catalyzing the extensive cross-linking to different ontologies both within the nuclear technology domain and in related domains and disciplines. This and all other core design decisions are presented and discussed under the prism of their adequacy to our use cases and requirements. Both the ontology and terminological data have been made publicly available.

In this paper we explore tablets and similar mobile devices as the medium of communication between robots and their users, presenting relevant current and planned research in human-robot interaction that can help the telehealth community circumvent technical shortcomings, improve user acceptance, and maximize the quality of the data collected by robotic home assistants.

We formulate the problem as one of extracting knowledge from text classification models, where the latter have been created using standard text classification techniques without any knowledge of metaphor. We then extract from such models a measure of how characteristic of a domain a term is, providing us with a reliable method of identifying terms that are surprising for the context within which they are used. To empirically evaluate our method, we have compiled a corpus of Greek newspaper articles where the training set is only annotated with the broad thematic categories assigned by the newspapers. We have also manually annotated a test corpus with metaphorical word usage. In our experiment, we report results using tf-idf to identify the literal (characteristic) domain of terms and we also analyse the interaction between tf-idf and other typical word features, such as Part of Speech tags.
