In order to reach the above aim, a description of intersectionality as a feminist theory and a social constructionist approach that highlights power dynamics and its implications for policy formulation will be outlined. A discussion of the dimensions of transport based social exclusion in the UK-focussing exclusively on the two axes of gender and income-and the issues stemming from their intersection will follow. Two Department for Transport policies will then be analysed against a framework to evaluate policies under the lens of intersectionality developed for the European Parliament in 2013, and discussed in the broader context of incorporating intersectionality into policy-making processes.

The nature of the latter and its challenges will be firstly outlined, followed by a description of the dynamics of radical housing cooperatives. The strategies employed by the latter in challenging the systemic faults of capitalism will be analysed, and a brief evaluation of housing cooperatives key prospects and challenges will conclude the essay.

The analysis of the governance/government dynamics and the nature of governance scales other than the community one will be consistently addressed throughout the essay.
