She graduated as an architecture from Dokuz Eylul University (2000), received her M.Sc degree (2003) and Phd degree (2010) in same department. She became associate professor in 2013 and professor in 2020. She is still professor at Dokuz Eylul University, Department of Architecture. One of the main axes of her work is on the Biodesign (the intersection of biology and architecture or adapting of bioengineering in architecture, biomimetics, nature-inspired architecture). She is a one of the founding member of "Turkey Biodesign Team" (TBT). The other research area proceeds through Modern Architecture and Architectural Practice of Izmir. Accordingly, she has national-international publications, scientific projects and various academic studies, also works as reviewer and as an editor in different international academic journals. She have many prize in architectural competitions.

Abstract The relationship between nature and architecture and design disciplines is basically related with the notion of inspiration from nature. This approach has handled with different in times and named as biomimesis / biomimetic / biomimicry in literature. It is possible to say that biomimetic approach has been contextually transformed as a result of interdisciplinary relations between engineering and design disciplines with synthetic biology, genetics and nanotechnology which have developed in the last decade. Going beyond the inspiration of living forms, behaviors or biological processes; hybrid syntheses in which architecture and living organisms are intertwined have begun to emerge. In this study, with the impact of technology and biotechnological research in the 21st century, the last evolved point of the nature-inspired approaches for architecture and design disciplines is named as bio-collaborative design under biodesign title and innovative examples are introduced that living organisms are integrated into the design.
