Broadband CPW-Fed Rectangular Antenna with Parasitic Patches

Published: 14 November 2014 Publication History

Abstract

In this paper a broadband Rectangular micro strip Antenna with parasitic patches on CPW feed is presented. Antenna composed of a planar rectangular patch element with two parasitic patches for broad banding. The overall size of the antenna is 62 mm X 47 mm X 1.6 mm including the finite ground CPW feeding mechanism and total volume of the antenna is 4.66 cm3. The antenna operates across frequency bands from 2.39 GHz to 7.42 GHz covering WIMAX and wireless Local area networks (WLAN) bands. Good antenna characteristics such as antenna gain, radiation patterns and radiating efficiency across a band of operation are observed. Maximum peak gain of 7.72 dBi is obtained for the designed antenna. Wide impedance bandwidth of 102.6 % is obtained at centre frequency 4.9 GHz.
