Design and Development of a Distributed Mobile Sensing Based Crowd Evacuation System: A Big Actor Approach

Published: 01 July 2015 Publication History

Abstract

In this paper, we present a distributed mobile sensing based crowd evacuation system. This system can be used for controlling crowd movement in case of an emergency evacuation e.g., Fire. We have modeled the system using Big Actors. It is a formal model of computation that combines two earlier computational models namely, Bigraphs and Actors. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first instance of using Big Actors to formally model a mobile sensing based crowd evacuation software. The paper presents the modifications and enhancements introduced to the Multiple Crowd Guidance Algorithm and details of the implemented system on the Android Platform.
