A Conflict Treatment Model for Uncertainty Rule-based Knowledge

Published: 05 September 2007 Publication History

Abstract

This study proposes an uncertainty rule-based knowledge conflict treatment model by integrating the conditional probability knowledge similarity algorithm and the uncertainty rule-based knowledge conflict treatment algorithm. In the model, a "r e l i ability f ac t or " r e f e r s t o t he r e l i abi l i t y l e v e l of t he k nowl e dge containing conflicts, redundancies or inconsistencies in v al ue s, whi l e t he "c e r t ai nt y f ac t or " i ndi c at e s t he e x i s t e nce of t he k nowl e dge i t s e l f . A "c er t ai nty reliability i nde x " i s us e d t o s how bot h t he e x i s t e nc e of the knowledge itself and its reliability. For conflicting knowledge, it is suggested that the knowledge with a higher certainty reliability factor be chosen. Among users, 92% reported that the algorithm is helpful to knowledge application and an aid to the decision-making process.
