PaperFlow: A Gamified Multitouch Application to Increase Motivation and Participation in Scientific Research

Published: 10 June 2015 Publication History

Abstract

In this paper we present PaperFlow, an application for multi-touch tables that aims at facilitating exchange and discussion of scientific publications in the common space of a research group. A gamification approach is used to engage researchers with the system and to motivate subject-related communication. The basic concept of the system is to randomly present publication abstracts of recent relevant conferences and journals and to allow users to recommend interesting texts to colleagues in a competitive manner.
