Building energy consumption and CO2emissions in China

Abstract

Based on the theory of Life-Cycle Energy Analysis, the energy consumption of macro-level buildings in China was analyzed, and the key factors in every Life-Cycle phase were pointed out. With the analysis of building life-cycle energy consumption, carbon dioxide emissions related to buildings were calculated. It was indicated that the energy consumptions of building materials production and building operation account for largest share in building energy consumption. Reducing energy consumption on building operation and building materials were important to building energy saving and carbon dioxide mitigation.
