An intelligent multimedia information handling system

Published: 02 April 1991 Publication History

Abstract

The next generation of information retrieval technology will essentially be represented by distributed multimedia systems. The main objective of these systems is to integrate multiple databases, to provide efficient multimedia information retrieval and transparent services for the end user.
Some elements of a general multimedia data model called AMCIRS has been described in [10], [11]. In this paper, the text and image handling in our system is described. Some implementation results are also presented.
