Synthesis for advanced nodes: an industry perspective

Published: 25 March 2012 Publication History

Abstract

As the industry moves to smaller geometries, physically-aware logic synthesis is required in the flow. With the complex designs under development, customers need to achieve high target frequencies with faster time-to-market. We are increasingly seeing the need to accurately model and optimize for physical effects early in the synthesis flow.
This talk will address the challenges for RTL synthesis today with small geometries. There is an increasing amount of physical effects that must be taken into account during synthesis from congestion to various RC effects of smaller geometries to ensure convergence.
