Abstract

Welcome to the 5th International Conference on Ubiquitous Information Management and Communication (ICUIMC) 2011. The conference is held in Seoul, South Korea.

This conference explores emerging interests and novel ideas in the area of information management, communication technologies and their implication of social interaction. The goal of ACM ICUIMC 2011 is to provide a forum promoting new visionary approaches and interdisciplinary researches. The conference brings researchers together from academia and industry, encourages the exchanges of ideas and information, and provides a unique opportunity in which both technology and social science meet. Two main tracks for information processing management and communication will be held, covering both research and application works of information management, intelligent information processing, interaction management, networking/telecommunications, and social interaction.

ACM ICUIMC 2011 consists of 2 keynote speeches and 2 invited speeches by remarkable world experts, 14 oral sessions, and 3 poster sessions. This year's program is extremely strong, and the review process was very competitive and rigorous. We received 534 submissions from many countries around the world. As a result of careful review process, we selected 135 papers to be presented in the oral and poster sessions (25% acceptance rate). We believe all of these papers will not only provide novel ideas, new results, work in progress, and state-of-the-art techniques in this field, but also stimulate future research activities in the area of information management and communication technologies.
