Abstract

We welcome you to the 25th annual conference on Innovation and Technology in Computer Science Education (ITiCSE 2020). ITiCSE 2020 was planned to take place from June 17 to 19 in Trondheim, Norway. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic a physical conference this summer was not viable, so it was decided to make ITiCSE 2020 a virtual event.

We are pleased to announce that ITiCSE 2020 is able to deliver the first entirely virtual conference supported by SIGCSE. The virtual conference will take place 17-18 of June, with the Working Groups starting their work earlier in a remote manner. The program of the conference will consist of keynote lectures, paper sessions, panels, tips and techniques, courseware demonstrations, and posters.

Continuing the trend from previous ITiCSE conferences, we received record numbers of highquality submissions. The full papers track received 317 abstracts and 261 full paper submissions, a slight increase on last year's record. Striving to maintain the quality of the conference, the program committee consisted of 240 researchers from the field of computing education. The program committee also included 35 senior members, all of whom are recognized leaders in the field and committed in their service to the computing education community. Overall, from the 261 full papers, the program committee worked very hard to select 72 papers that are included in the proceedings of ITiCSE 2020. In addition, the proceedings include nine working group abstracts, two panels, 15 tips, techniques & courseware, 18 poster abstracts, and 11 doctoral consortium abstracts
