Preparation and submission of manuscripts

The Journal of the ACM seeks original papers of the highest quality, which will be accessible to a broad audience. Papers should be written in a way that a nonspecialist can understand the main ideas.

Authors submitting papers for peer-review to ACM publications make a number of representations. In particular, authors should hold the copyright on all contents of the submitted article, or request permission from the copyright holder. Certain uses of copyrighted material may be made without obtaining permission from the copyright holder under the Fair Use exception in section 107 of the US Copyright Act. See ACM's Guidance for Authors on Fair Use for details.
