Dr Arash Beizaee
Dr Arash Beizaee is a lecturer in Energy and Built Environment at the Institute of Energy and Sustainable Development (IESD) at De Montfort University. He has broad interests in design, construction and operation of high performance, energy efficient buildings. His research expertise lies in the following areas:
• Energy and environmental monitoring in buildings
• Building performance modelling
• Data mining and machine learning for building energy analysis
• Low energy building services design
Arash teaches across both postgraduate and undergraduate courses and supervises at PhD, MSc and BEng levels. He is module leader for Building Physics module and deputy module leader for Building Performance Modelling module in MSc Energy and Sustainable Building Design. He also teaches Thermodynamics in BEng Mechanical Engineering.
Before Joining IESD, Arash was as a Research Associate on a multi-disciplinary EPSRC funded project (DEFACTO) at Loughborough University. He is a graduate of London- Loughborough EPSRC centre for doctoral research in Energy Demand; a collaboration between UCL and Loughborough University. He received his PhD for his thesis entitled 'Measuring and Modelling the Energy Demand Reduction Potential of Using Zonal Space Heating Control in a UK home'. Prior to PhD, he completed MRes in Energy Demand Studies and MSc in Building Services Engineering both with distinction from Loughborough University. Arash’s background is in Mechanical Engineering (Heat and Fluids).
