Comparative study of accessibility evaluation methods with visual impaired

Published: 05 October 2009 Publication History

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate features, pros and cons in preparing accessibility assessments in order to assist sites building. The evaluation has used a comparative study of different methods for accessibility evaluation. Toward this end, a study case was conducted involving accessibility evaluation automated tools and three methods of evaluation: assessing compliance with guidelines, assessment with specialists without visual impairment and evaluation with users with visual impairments. The results showed the characteristics of each method and tools used. Besides that, we have made a list of recommendations detailing aspects to be considered when designing an accessibility assessment.
