  • Abstract

We present an approximation method that aim to accelerate computationally the Global Illumination (GI) algorithm for the purpose of real-time rendering. Our method is based on Screen Space Ambient Occlusion (SSAO) algorithm. This technique yields an approximated Global Illumination for large fully dynamic scenes at interactive frame rates, although SSAO uses random sampling techniques. By using stratified sampling, we can produce more realistic results. The proposed model has a visual improvement compared to classic SSAO. Since our method works in screen space, it does not depend on the geometric complexity. In this paper we demonstrate the necessary steps for the implementation of this algorithm, also the modifications which were made, as well as a comparative study discussion of results.
