A disk emulator for the Commodore 1541 disk drive (abstract only)

Published: 01 March 1985 Publication History

Abstract

Fitscan is a system of monitoring and analyzing cardiovascular fitness. This is done with a combination of hardware and software. The system is based off of the Commodore 64 microcomputer. We have designed a radio that will send a signal to the computer for each pulse. The radio is used for monitoring heart rates of athletes in action. Fitscan also runs fitness tests, including a cardiovascular test, muscular test, and a program that determines body fat from skin calipers. The next step for Fitscan is to develop a system to test a large number of people in a short amount of time. The YMCA's National Fitness Test protocols are used for this system. The system will use 4 computers, dedicating each to a specific part of the test. Since the process will be pipelined and each computer will process 4 people at a time, a rate of fifty people per hour can be achieved.
